Reviews on Sushi food in Fukuoka, Fukuoka Prefecture, Japan. Fukuoka is a gourmet paradise... "providing you're not vegetarian," say travelers on our Fukuoka forum! It's right on Genkai Sea, and the seafood is fresh and abundant. So is Fukuoka-style ramen, which you can find at the city's famous yatai (outdoor stalls) as well as modern restaurants. Walk off your meal at Ohori Park and the nearby Fukuoka Castle ruins.

Sushi was absolutely fresh, service was excellent n restaurant was smart. Lunch menus start from 2000 yen whilst dinner menus start from 8000 yen. We had the 5000 yen set lunch which offered about 12 pieces of sushi, chawanmushi, miso soup n dessert. It was superb value considering its quality. We subsequently ordered another platter of 10 sushi pieces to share amongst the 3 of us simply because it was that good and we knew it would be at least another year before we would return.Reservations are absolutely necessary

This very casual 24hr sushi bar is super expat friendly, comes at UNBELIEVABLE prices, and has a great backstory. I'll start with the backstory. The owner always buys the biggest maguro at Tsukiji fish market every New Year's Eve (oshougatsu); he's pretty famous for the superlative. Prices are incredible, tuna is obviously their specialty. Otoro is 248 yen ($2.50 usd) per piece--which is totally nuts. Chutoro is even cheaper. They have bintoro, which is albacore, and for some reason really hard to find in most sushi bars despite it being among my favorites pieces of fish. They didn't have buri though--another favorite of mine--but I didn't mind.Definitely make this a pit stop on your fukuoka trip if you are budget traveler all the way to a gourmet snob.
Close to Hakata Station, and complete with private dining rooms, this is the place to go to for banquets in Hakata! Why not enjoy a banquet in the comfortable Japanese taste of atmosphere of this restaurant? This restaurant has a great location right next

Having dined a few years ago at their sister restaurant " Genki Sushi " in Shibuya,I had high expectations of Uobei in Hakata. Wasn't disappointed Not high end sushi of course but for a cheap, filling lunch, all ordered via your personal tablet & friendly staff, you can't go wrong. A few minutes walk from Hakata station, top floor of Yodabashi store.

went for lunch after my first night in fukuoka. waited for nearly 30 minutes for sunday lunch- the place, service and food qualities were all fine, except the price was quite high- for a small regional city like fukuoka.

Restaurant specialised in fish where we had one of the best meals in Fukuoka. The catch is fresh and cooked to perfection. The menu is only in Japanese but the staff speak some English and can help you order. We used Google translate and we got what we ordered. The food tastes home-made and the lunch trays offer good portions. We had draft beer to help the food down. The place is very busy but the turn-over is quite quick (at least at lunch time). The prices are on the expensive side, but withing Japanese standards.

Went again yesterday for lunch. We were early to wait in line at 10:40am and there were already over 15 people waiting in front of us. It's the Golden Week so not a surprise. They opened right on time and we managed to get into the first round of service.Sushi was again the best quality you can get. Service was good. All the dishes were just fresh and delicious. Location is the best if you're in that area for shopping. But be prepared to wait for at least 30mins during the weekend or public holiday.

As tourist, we didnât have much luxury to travel out of convenient locations for the âbestâ food. Overall, Hyotan offered a good-enough sushi experience in a popular location, with friendly service, reasonable price, adequate varieties & acceptable quality. We arrived around 6.30pm & queued for about 40 min on a weekday. We had a few sushi meal in Fukuoka & havenât found one that is as good as those we had in Tokyo yet, with price taken into consideration. Hyotan was not the best or the cheapest, but we truly enjoy our sushi dinner here!

I agree with a previous reviewer that this was the absolute highlight of my visit to Fukuoka. An authentic but accessible Japanese seafood experience. Very friendly service including a waiter who spoke fluent English and an English menu. A subtle but exquisite setting sitting at a bar around fish tanks, watching them get caught. The sashimi was divine, including fugu. The local sake also the best Iâve had in Japan.Almost worth coming back to Fukuoka just to come here again!
