Hospitality of friends in US makes me happy and.... hmm... FAT!!! Yeah! What you expected? America is state of food. Many kinds of foods and we decided to take break between seafoods and beefsteaks...So we explored another nice place serving with vegetarian food and what is surprising with fish and meat taste...We have tested "eel" (not real) smoked and grilled and other stuff and it was really like real fish or meat.If someone willnot say that it is vegetarian and make from soybean you will not thing that you are not eating meat.P.S. what a nice guy manager of restaurant... personally checking are you enjoyed meal and notocing you on how it is cooked...

Warning: for those who really enjoy sushi & sashimi after enjoying the Omakase here it is very likely you will never go elsewhere.  While there are places 3 times more expensive in Manhattan that may have a couple of exotic items that Yasu does not provide, you will not find a place with better value.  This is one of those places that you treat yourself to...and can probably afford it fairly regularly. You can treat this place like your average sushi restaurant and if you do, then average will be what you get, and you will compare this place to Sushi Times down the street.  If you want amazing then you will sit at the bar and enjoy the Omakase (Chef's Choice) and realized you were ripped off by everywhere else.  It's an experience where you sit back, relax, and enjoy each delicious piece of sushi the chef prepares for you with freshness, quality, and creative ingredients pairing...not just finely cut raw fish here...For Omakase they will ask you how much you would like to spend starting at $40 a person - I'd recommend $60 for a solid experience.  It's worth it if you're looking for something above average and more than just "fresh" (though it is definitely fresh).  Not only will you get items that you won't normally find in average sushi bars... even the items that you would think is regular, such as seared marinated salmon, taste like salmon explosion in your mouth.  Did I mention that to get a similar experience with the selection, quality, and creativity you should expect to pay at least 3 times the price in Manhattan?

Now let me first tell you that this place is not cheap! So for all those bargain sushi hunters out there that are accustomed to eating those AYCE Sushi places...don't even whip out your wallet for this place. I'm addressing all those foodies out there that appreciate fine sushi that you actually pay for what you get. This place ROCKS!!! The fish here is so fresh that it probably was swimming in water probably during your morning shower. It's not only fresh but the food is expertly prepared and presented to you. I also want to prefice that the portions are not huge or even large but the taste factor and the quality surpasses what you've probably been eating all over NY. It's truly earns a rating of the best sushi in the entire area. I've been to many sushi places and paid all sorts of money but this unassuming sushi restaurant in Forest Hills right off Metropolitan Ave is worth the trip wherever you might be coming from. Not many tables here so please make a reservation on Open Table to get included in this gastronomic sushi heaven. Items to consider...urchin & egg tofu app, octopus & cucumber vinagrette, Hamachi Kama($36)-What $$$ but worth every penny, braised pork belly with fried mochi(what a turn on of a dish-so unexpected-YUM), and of course got to get your sashimi for 2($50)-again well worth the bucks if you can afford it! Finish off with either their black sesame ice cream or their lychee sorbet...wanted the green tea tiramsu but they ran out. In fact this place ran out of lots of stuff on a Sunday night...my only turn off but probably because they were so busy on Saturday night that they didn't get to restock thos delish items. Not too good in the professional sense but heck the food was so good and yummy...I will forgive them. Oh the music in the back ground can be somewhat annoying...I heard french bistro music and then switched to a faux jazzy elevator style background piped in music. Minor details for the owner if he's reading but HIGH CUDOS to the best sushi in the entire area...honors all yours:) Happy Eating and I'll definitely see ya around these tables even if there's not many around.

We love this place! We visit almost weekly..we've done happy hour which ends at 7 and also later hours. Food is always fresh and delicious! Workers are good especially my favorite girl AnnaBaby who is the best! The drinks are awesome too! I always order a mojito and my hubby orders pins colada which are both great drinks..the place is decorated beautifully and they even have tv's by the bar to have dinner and watch the games. The music is always awesome too! Old jams that I love! This is by so far my favorite sushi spot! Mmm i could go for some right now lol..Go for it! You won't regret it ;)Thank you so much for taking the time to provide us with your feedback. It is always a pleasure reading about our customers visits to Mito and we are so glad you enjoyed your time with us. We look forward to sharing your feedback with our team members and we hope to have the pleasure of serving you again soon!

Certainly the most beautifully designed/decorated restaurant in Queens. We had a wonderful lunch of assorted appetizers - the pineapple rice and koren short ribs were our favorites but everything was well prepared and delicious. Wonderful bottle of rose. Overall, prices are on the high side which means we won't be going as often as we would like to, but we had an excellent meal and will definitely be back. There are several areas designed to accommodate small and larger groups and given how really lovely the restaurant is and the great cocktail menu, it would be a great choice for an "occasion" - birthday groups, work groups, etc.

I rate this sushi restaurant 4.5/5 because they make great sushi at a great price but of course as much as there is something unique of being small the size isn't the best to sit and eat. If you go on a busy night you most won't get a table. However you can order and that's what I recommend. I would definitely eat here again.

I walked by this place many times and didn't know there was a restaurant there. It's right behind the LIRR train tracks, not facing the fancy Austin Street side, so I didn't see any noticeable signs for it previously. I went there when there wasn't high volume, but this place is very big and itâs a pretty presentation inside, definitely something to bring a date or friends to. The service is very good, very attentive and polite. I was impressed with the food. They can do multiple Asian dishes and they do them well. Price might seem like they're high for the main dishes but they're competitive for the area. Iâll be back on a more festive night with my people, for sure.

Great Sushi selections and lovely atmosphere with great service. Our waiter was wonderful and attentive. This restaurant was recommended to us by a LGA worker since we have a 9 hours layover. Such a wonderful place. I cant find any Japanese restaurant that served sukiyaki anymore in the SanFran area so imaging my surprise when I find it. Very reasonable price. Our bill comes to $52.00 for 2. Will be back when we travel to NYC again.
