The quality of the food was quite good. And fresh. Some unusual rolls are produced that were quite tasty. My friends swear by this and I thought it was quite good. Service was efficient

We dined at this restaurant before a recent concert at the nearby Bergen Performing Arts Center. While we have dined at a Tani in Glen Rock several times, this was our first experience with their Englewood venue. Happily, it exceeded our expectations. Our dinner began with four delicious spring rolls in a tangy sauce. Our dinner entrees were a wok-cooked prawn dish and the venerable General Tsoâs chicken. Both entrees were perfectly prepared and our portions were ample. I topped off my dinner with a Thai iced tea, which substituted for a dessert and left me quite full. My fiancée skipped dessert. Since this place is a BYOB facility, we were able to enjoy our own bottle of chardonnay. The total bill, before the tip, was $38-something. This was a very good dinner at a very reasonable price. Its proximity to the Bergen Performing Arts Center makes it a good choice for a pre-theater meal. Tani has a large variety of Chinese, Japanese and Thai entrees, so we can branch out on our next visit. It also has a very soothing interior. The classical guitar music in the background was an unusual choice for an Asian fusion restaurant, but it enhanced the sense of calm that we had while dining here. A very happy discovery. We will be back.

This restaurant is a cut above most. The waitresses are very nice and attentive. The quality and freshness of the fish is apparent. Sushi deluxe was imaginative in presentation. Hand rolls were very good. Tempura was light and crunchy. Appetizers of beef and gyoza was very good. Complimentary ice cream!

This is a restaurant that started as a "whole-in-the-wall" and has all grown up into 2 locations. This restaurant specializes in having a fusion of traditional sushi with Dominican food staples such as: fried cheese, salami and plátano amount others. The sushi have curious names from the Dominican Republic like: "Campesino", "Conuco", "La Chapiadora", amount others. In my opinion the best sushi options are: "Campesino", "Conuco", and "The Heights". The restaurant is mid priced but can quickly add up as the prices per/roll are between: US $8 - 15.This restaurant has a relaxed feel to it with a young vibe to it, nothing fancy and the staff are very friendly. The staff is mostly bilingual in English/Spanish. This restaurant has outside & indoor sitting. One advice I will give you is that the best time to go early as this restaurant gets very packed on the weekends especially in the Spring/Summer time.

We visited the restaurant for the first time to celebrate Greek Easter Sunday. Here's the pros:Every employee was welcoming and everyone was ready and seemed excited to receive the Easter guests. The atmosphere was warm, the restaurant clean, the tabletops on point and the overall ambiance very positive. The live music provided was also very agreeable. Our service overall was good. From the menu the winners were the lamb chops, the grilled shrimp, the orange cake, the salads, and the chocolate mosaic. The items which needed attention were the kokoretsi appetizer (was not broiled adequately and a let down for me), the lamb with potatoes (above average but fatty), the side of horta (overcooked, chewy and lack of taste), and the galaktoboureko (also not fully baked). I wish the ownership and staff every success. The kitchen has some work to do to stabilize the product. Overall an OK experience but the dish quality did not mirror the price. We apologize for your less than perfect experience celebrating Greek Easter with us. Would you be so kind as to contact me so that we may discuss this in further detail? I am available via email at [email protected] look forward to hearing from you.

I was impressed by the quality of the fish . My sashimi salad with citrus sauce was perfect . The dressing was original and complimented the salad to a tee . The portions are perfect and the selections are more than ample . The prices are very reasonable for the quality . I can't wait to go again . Perfect for a family or couples dinner. The atmosphere is warm and classy at the same time . Count me in!!!!

I am in Englewood on business about every quarter, and while I like the diner foods you can readily find here, there is only so much gravy a man can eat. So I checked google maps for some other options near where I stay and spotted Akai Lounge on the map. Checked the ratings, looked good, and reviews on Trip Adviser were most all positive so I gave it a shot. First thing you need to know about going to Akai, parking is a pain. You need to have a pocket of quarters if you park on the street. But now for a little inside baseball, there is a parking lot in the back with a machine that takes dollar bills and you only need to feed the machine if you are there BEFORE 6:00 PM. After six, free! So I get there for a happy hour sushi fix, only needed to pay for 30 minutes of parking and was free and clear from there. I sat at the bar (not the sushi bar) and ordered a salad (which was great, light and refreshing) then had the shrimp tempura (which was also great except for the tempura broccoli. I was not a fan of that at all). And then for the final course I has six pieces of salmon sashimi. Did I not want more, oh yes, I did. However, at almost $4 per piece it added up quick. Anyway, Akai is a little on the high side when it comes to food prices, but the service was good as was the food I got.
