This review appeared in the Mercury on May 2Glenwood now boasts its own sushi bar, hemmed into an alley between Yossiâs and Badgers. Itâs a welcome addition to the neighbourhood.Décor is more fun and funky, service casual but efficient. Theyâre not licenced, but will gladly get from Yossiâs next door. So on one of the few sunny days, we set about building our own sushi platter. Now I am the first to admit I am far from an expert on sushi, but I do enjoy it. The tuna sashimi was nice and fresh, and the drowning prawn â thatâs a Californian roll topped with tempura prawn and mayo â was fun. The prawn and mayo in a bean curd casing was another unusual option. While the tempura prawns were done in crumbs rather than the traditional batter, these were enjoyable. Maki, salmon roses, fashion sandwiches, nigiri and bamboo rolls complete the picture. The platter was beautifully presented and we tucked in.The Sushi Corner127 Helen Joseph (Davenport) Road, Glenwood073 274 8649Tues to Sunday lunch and dinnerSushi R18 to R69, platters R105 to R269, half price sushi Tuesday and Thursday lunch
Durban, KwaZulu-Natal Food Guide: 3 Thai food Must-Eat Restaurants & Street Food Stalls in Berea
Was very pleased to see Sakura in Glenwood. Had been there some time ago when they were in Florida Road. There are some nice half price Sushi offers on the menus and the service good despite it being at capacity. I suggest you book to ensure a place in the evenings. We were a table of 8 and expected a delay once ordered as the restaurant was busy. Drink top ups came often enough with friendly banter with the waitress who took our entire table order without writing it out and served everyone exactly as they ordered once the food arrived. Found that impressive. They also have a Thai and Chinese menu which we did not use.Overall good value for money if you like Sushi, but expect some delays if the restaurant is busy.

Seafood, sushi , seafood mezze and grills are seved with love and passion in Durban's only restaurant set in a national monument, a double story Natal Edwardian elegant verandah house that is over a 100 years old.
I always saw the name and never thought much about it. To me me it sounded like another seafood establishment. To my surprise I was blown away by the level of professionalism and courtesy of the staff. We were welcomed by a genuine smile and this was evident in all the staff. Well done to the management and staff. Good food, excellent service and well trained staff makes this not just another seafood restaurant, it is THE seafood restaurant to experience as we did. My wife and I definitely be visiting again.

I have to admit, john Dory's sea food is the best in Durban... Lets just say I prefer it! :). The service and the treatment the waiters give you is absolutely worth a visit almost every day. The view of the Wilson's Wharf boat riding depot and the harbor is amazing, this place is worth a try.Dear Makhoba, Thank you so much for your amazing review! We're so happy to hear you enjoyed our service. We hope to see you back again, soon! Kind regards, John Dory's Crew

We went to dinner last night and the restaurant was not full. After being seated for 5/8 minutes a manager asks if i was helped. No was my reply..She very helpfully took drinks and starter order. Still no sign of our waitress though. Our waitress eventually arrives with drink does not introduce herself or wear a name badge. My partner then joins me and he sits a good few minutes before he attracted the attention of a manager to help take his drink order. He then summons another waitress to help us.In the interim a few waitresses are very merrily having a conversation in the front. My point is restaurant was NOT full to capacity and service was pathetic. No one checked if meal was ok ? Are You guys alright?Need anything else?Scary to think how they would cope during peak seasons.Dear SharonN123, Thank you for rating John Dory's. Customer service is extremely important to us and we apologise for the level of service you received on your visit. Please take a moment to send your contact details to us on [email protected] so that we may address your concerns. Kind regards, John Dory's

Stumbled upon this restaurant whilst in search of some good sushi. We had an absolutely fantastic experience! The sushi was great and the service was excellent. We were provided with advice on our selection and encouraged to try the Green Mango signature sushi which did not disappoint. We will definitely be back!
