The restaurant is immaculatey clean and wonderfully small and intimate: with just 8 tables. The welcome is warm and friendly without being over-bearing or intrusive. The menu of South African dishes is varied and excellent with a great wine list and wide selection of beers. The food was cooked to absolute perfection and as previously mentioned, the service is not rushed or "pushy".Two warnings: This is not "fast food" - it is cooked to order and with fresh ingredients. It takes a little time; perfect for conversation and a couple of drinks! They do not take credit cards - you have to pay by cash. We were pre-warned, but one couple in the restaurant had to do a quick run to the cash machine around the corner. This is a wonderful restaurant with delicious food and fantastic service.

Visited twice during a short trip to Bruges. The first time for a takeaway. White baguette with mozzarella, tomato, pesto, pine nut and rocket which was very tasty. Fillings very fresh and the bread light and crunchy. On the second visit we ate in. This time a brown seeded long roll with crab, tomato and cucumber. Again very tasty. Very good coffee too. The staff are great and made our visit fun. Very reasonable price too.

The cocktails are nice, but pricey for the amount you get. After seeing a photo of the Urban Flower on their site, I really wanted to try it, if nothing else for the nice big fresh flower they placed on top of the pink foamy drink. Upon arrival, all I could see was a tiny flat violin flower drowning in the foam...the cocktail was good, but I felt fooled. The small burgers or taco's were okay but the dumplings were very good. The bottle of wine was just put on the table, no tasting, no pouring...and the plates were passed on through our friends and this happened with the mains too. There was plenty of space to manouver and give each one of us that individual service, especially with the mains! It all felt very clumsy. The mains. My friend's curry was overly salted. As were the fries, who were also very dry and mostly overbaked. My steak, 250 grams, had at least a 100 grams pure fat on it. What was left was quite dry and overspiced. A very big difference with my husbands steak, which had no fat on it.When the waiter came to collect our plates, we were not asked how everything was or if we were happy. We were never asked, during the entire evening, nor if we wanted more drinks. Service felt poor and unexperienced. When my friend mentioned the overly salty food, she was told that no one had ever said such a thing, he actually seemed baffled. Not the answer she wanted to hear as a customer. So after that I decided not to say anything about my steak. If nothing else, if a waiter comes to collect your food and sees a half empty plate, lots of fries leftover and salad too...maybe it would occur to ask if something was wrong. It happens you know...I'm usually a very happy customer and it doesn't take much to please me, but I left here with an unhappy feeling about both the food and the service.
