We're a unique St Cloud Area restaurant in an authentic log cabin nestled along the Sauk River. We are family owned & operated since 1973.
Let me start by saying the ambiance of this place is superb. Cool log cabin. With the tame ducks outside itâs neat being in the Sauk river which empties into the mighty Mississippi. We were told by our waitress this is the best steak place in St. Cloud. Well, Iâve only been to one another and I have to say Texas Roadhouse has this place best for steak. My NY strip had a MINIMUM of 1/3 to 40% fat on it. It had a nice seasoning but it was tough. My gold standard for a strip is Postmark Grill in Hudson WI. Nobody (apart from the Chicago steakhouses)beats them. This place had a good side salad. The cauliflower au gratin was okay. Their popovers were very good. But looking back, we should have tried the salads or something else as this steak was seriously disappointing. I do sincerely mean that Texas Roadhouse is not only a better value price wise but quality wise. Maybe we caught this place on a off night.

My husband wanted a reasonable steak, so we decided to give Bonanza a try while we were in town. We both ordered a "meat" in addition to their Salad Bar. The Salad Bar is huge. It includes both cold and hot foods, soups, breads, and desserts. I will admit that some of the foods, did not look all that tempting, but we both made a really nice salad with veggies, a bread item and no more. The meat we had coming was going to be more than sufficient. He steak, me salmon. Both were okay considering it was Bonanza and not some high end steakhouse. The restaurant could have been a bit cleaner, but it was a Friday night at 6:30 p.m. - very busy. I do like the fact that if ordering a kids meal, kids are not allowed to partake in the Salad Bar. In order to keep costs down, try and eat what you take. When food is wasted, prices will go up to cover that. I give Bonanza credit for offering smaller portions on the Salad and Dessert Bar. This prompts less waste and more opportunity to sample other items if so wish. I understand that you may not like a certain item once you take it, but then don't take a plateful until you try it......Unfortunately, some rude families dampened the night, not Bonanzas fault :)
