This restaurant mostly caters to business persons, particularly during weekdays, but also families visit, especially on the weekends, starting Friday. Food is upscale mexican cuisine, prominent in the menu are meat cuts, cabrito (baby goat) and other typical mexican dishes, served in an upscale way and at upscale prices. The food is very good as well as the service.

We got cabrito (leg), machito, guacamole, fried beans, tortillas , a hot sauce in a MOLCAJETE, rib eye and lemonade. It was delicious. Prices are high because the place is fancy, but the service is super efficient and it's a pleasure to eat here. You are able to eat salad if you buy cabrito pro big plate. Dessert: Mango cake

El Gaucho came recommended to us from many people. We ordered the $110.00 dinner for two which was plenty of food for two adults and two children. The presentation of food was fun as it came out on a small grill to our table. Steak, chicken, chorizo were all fantastic! Came with two sides, a bottle of house wine and dessert. There was a guitarist coming to each table which we could hear the music from where we were seated but he didnât come in our room. Cab ride from Marriott S. Casino was about 15 min and $14 each way.

Excellent choice for lunch or dinner. Located in the Palacio de Hierro Mall, it is an excellent choice for those who want to eat quality meat with great service and a broad range of wines. In a city where meat is king, there is plenty competition. This place is holding on to its own. It's a little pricey but, well, it's a good meal.

My friend and I chose this restaurant because it was one of the few open restaurants close to our hotel on a particularly cold New Year's Day. The decor and ambience was very nice. The appetizer included a small sample of cabritas (baby goat meat) on a bed of refried beans, served with chips and salsa. Cabritas is comida tipica here, and the main draw of this restaurant. The sample was tasty enough. However, I ended up ordering Tlapeño soup and the chicken breast plate. The soup was just ok and not truly characteristic of Tlapeño soup. It was warm, but not hot. It did not have any avocado, cheese chunks, or carrots. The waiter came back to say they didn't have any chicken. The only other option for white meat was the pork plate, so I ordered that. When it arrived, it was a hunk of charred meat drowned in oil. Not sauce. Oil. I'm no stranger to Mexican food, nor am I a precariously healthy eater, but this plate was inedible. I tried two small bites, but it made my stomach turn. I did not eat it. When they came to take my plate away, they asked if there was a problem. I politely said I didn't care for it because there was more grease than I was used to. The waiter flatly stated that this is how it's served. (I subsequently tried cabritos and other main dishes in other restaurants, and it was not anything like that plate). He did not offer any substitutes, which is fine since I did not wish to try anything else there. Not only was the food very disappointing, but the service was terrible. I travel a lot and am accustomed to the relaxed service protocols in Mexico, but this was something else. Because it was so cold, we both ordered hot tea to drink. The waiter seemed to scowl at that... maybe because he snap-judged us to be cheapskates unwilling to spring for good wine...but the service was noticeably lacking afterward. There were only 3 occupied tables in the entire restaurant and about 5 waiters, two of which stood near the wine wall, chatting most the night. If we tried to get their attention, they would saunter out of eyesight. The other three bustled around, but didn't seem to be actually DOING anything. At least, nothing related to serving. They just scurried to and fro from the kitchen to the dining room, but never carrying anything, except napkins to fold and things to organize, etc. It was odd that they seemed preoccupied in getting ready for the next day instead of attending the customers who were physically present. It seemed that The Lazies against the wall were the supervisors, ordering the young pups around. After one encounter, I thought one of the young waiters might grab the nearest steak knife and run Lazy Supervisor #1 through the back with it as he walked away. At least there was entertainment. Another hold up was the very slow computer system they were using. They had 2 computers, both of which responded at the speed of turtle. In addition, the waiters' fingers would just hover over the screen, endlessly searching...as if the one person trained on these computers had called in sick that night. Whatever the situation, service was slow. I asked for a refill on my tea, and received it as we were paying the bill (after searching for 20 minutes for someone to bring it - the bill). When they finally brought the tea, the tea was warm, not hot, and the cup was dirty - some dried food was stuck just inside the rim. I was very thirsty, but dirty dishes are unsettling at best, so I didn't drink it. The entrees here were expensive. On average, 300 - 900 pesos per plate ($17 - $50) - prices the food did not warrant. They did not charge me for my plate, though, so there's that. There are many good restaurants in Monterrey. This is not one of them. Do yourself a favor and steer clear.

A rare find, find out what local yuppies have been enjoying for generations, very simple food, exquisite steakhouse style meat cuts, lots of pork. A diamond in the dessert. La Nacional team usually rescues recipies from small towns and delivers them to yo
Excelent food!!! I simple love the truffled French fries they serve there. Also the meat is really good! But if you do not want to wait hours and hours to be seated in a dinner, does not matter which day of the week, do your reservations previously

No reservation, but still got a nice table. Large innovative menu (mainly meat), with dishes and cuts I have never seen. First dish was bone marrow "tacos". Incredible!! Then I had the "gaoneras", soft marbled meat tacos, enough for two, and finally a great dessert, lemon pie. BTW my son had an excellent white fish!!. Certainly will go back whenever in Monterrey!!!!
