After a long crossing and drive from Caen we found ourselves in this lovely little restaurant. They were very accommodating with our pooch and had water bowls available. The menu was quite extensive and if it wasnât for the time of the evening I would of liked to try the fondue speciality. The meal was lovely but there was a slight mix up with the order. We didnât bother to try and complain as the staff were friendly enough and it was just purely a translation error. All in all a good pit stop if your driving through France with your pooch. I ate here on the evening I stayed at Hotel O'Nice, right next door, so it was convenient.The focus is very much on meat. I didn't notice whether there were vegetarian options so you would need to check.I had a nice steak, cooked perfectly, very reasonably and decent house wine. The service was quick and waiting staff polite and friendly. It is the obvious choice when staying at one of the two hotels in the same small campus.

My God!! What a day.We arrived in la jolie France at 1300 on the Portsmouth/Cherbourg ferry. Our house is near Royan, so we imagined a journey of 5/6 hours. However the French agriculteurs had decided to blockade a lot of the principal roads and motorways, so our journey took 8 hours.We arrived at Saintes and thought we would have a quivk meal instead of cooking.We were greeted and shown to our table and given a good explanation of the menu etc. The waiter even started speaking in English. God, we were so tired and hungry. We both ordered Noix d'entrecote a point. A few minutes later our welcome salad and drinks arrived, very welcome indeed. Minutes later our steaks arrived. They looked good, tasted good, and had excellent flavour. The veg was all a volonte, not that we needed more. Our waiter was excellent, the food was excellent and the service was good.I lnow its not Cordon Bleu but if you want good food in a hurry then do try Courtepaille.
