It is located on São Miguel Island, the largest and most populous in the archipelago. The population in 2011 was 68,809, in an area of 232.99 square kilometres (89.96 square miles). We had the traditional beef, one for two people and the feijoada cake, the meat was tender and cook to perfection, the fries really nice, and the desert really tasty. The chef's father, our waiter, the most attentive person in the hole Island.Thank you for a great lunch.

Whenever my family and i visit Sao Miguel it is a must we dine at Alcides. We have never been disappointed . The menu items we've tried are absolutely delicious and the staff is super friendly. We especially look forward to seeing Vitor who always greets us with a warm welcome. He is super attentive, friendly , accommodating and always in a cheery mood . Wonderfu all around. We'll definitely be back. A 5 star experience

Our private tour guide recommended this place for lunch before heading back to the cruise ship.We found it to be clean and plain, not fancy which is not saying anything bad. It is definitely a local's place which is what we wanted to experience.I had the Portuguese beef steak, Bitoque, and my husband ordered the sardines which surprised him when when he saw 4 large ones on the plate. Both dishes were very good.Price: 32 Euros for our two entrees including either french fries and rice or boiled potato and salad, fresh cheese and bread, a bottled water, 2 scotches and 2 beers. VERY reasonable.It was good but nothing "special" to ever go back to.

We failed to make reservations and stumbled upon this place which was open. The steak was good. The cod was inedible (over fried and fatty and stiff and stringy). The chicken dish was excellent. The mixed fish grill was good but under spiced. The salad was basic but nicely presented and the chocolate mousse and house wine were good. A mixed experience for us tonight.The service was kind and attentive. No one at the table could take two bites of the cod. This place has great potential but is a mixed bag of tricks.
