We had a great experience this time around. We arrived a few minutes early and were seated before our reservation time. We had a great table location and our server (Jay) did an excellent job. His timing was impeccable, and he offered up a few things to do for our visit around the area of our hotel, and we went to one of them. We had a perfect date night dinner complete with a drink. I had a Main Filet Mignon and my wife had the Petite Filet Mignon, and we split a Caesar Salad, Roasted Rainbow Carrots, and the Chipotle Cheddar Macaroni and Cheese. The Filets were cooked as ordered and were delicious. The Mac and Cheese is to die for. The portions were plentiful, and we ended up taking some of the Mac and Cheese home. Unfortunately we didnât have room for desert on this trip. To make the evening complete we were able to meet Liz (the operating partner) and told her what a great job Jay had done. She was extremely personable, and we were lucky to have gotten a moment to say hello. A much better visit than our first time, and it was great to be able to write a more positive review. We will be back again in the near future. We are so happy to hear that you had such a wonderful experience with us here at Fleming's in West Hartford. Jay is one of our prized servers and does an amazing job! We understand there are many restaurants to choose from in West Hartford, and we thank you for joining us here and giving us another try. We look forward to your next visit with us!

The crown jewel of the Hartford, Connecticut dining scene, Max Downtown has been serving its guests for over 21 years and remains a fan favorite. After a top-to-bottom renovation in the summer of 2017, the restaurant has never looked (or tasted) better.

We have made The Capital Grille our go-to venue for special events and we had four birthdays to celebrate -- husband's, mother-in-law's, stepfather-in-law's, and my impending milestone event. The valet parking (LAZ) was attentive and polite. Our OpenTable reservation was immediately honored. Our table was decorated for the birthdays, which was a nice touch. The server was professional. The description of specials was problematic, as there was no price offered for each appetizer and main course items. Also, I ordered a Perrier, but was asked if a Pellegrino was acceptable, which it was: I was very surprised to see a large bottle of sparkling water, when I was expecting a single-serving size -- particularly as I was the only person drinking sparkling water (and would have been perfectly happy with a club soda from the soda gun at the bar). We ordered appetizers, steaks and two sides. The lobster bisque and clam chowder were reported to be excellent; the corn chowder seemed a bit thin; the beet salad was a miss -- the beets were too thick and use of red and yellow beets would've made the plate pop, rather than just red beets. All the steaks were excellent. The creamed spinach was good; the au gratin potatoes had a novel topping, but we prefer the au gratin potatoes at J. Gilbert's. Complimentary desserts were provided and received excellent reviews, although I ordered a creme brûlée and took mine home. The server kindly got an extra bone or two for our pups at home, which they devoured this morning. One minor complaint: we had thought that the remainders of the bread basket would be in the leftover bag, but perhaps we should've made that clearer by putting the breads on a plate -- I was looking forward to toasting the dark bread for breakfast this morning. Long story short -- my so-called "acid test": would I go back? Yes, we like The Capital Grille for special occasions and will return for anniversaries and birthdays in the coming years.

J. Gilbert's is an "upscale casual" steakhouse serving prime-aged beef cooked over a mesquite wood-fired grill. Guests enjoy various cuts of steak, fresh seafood (including award-winning crab cakes) & other house made favorites like the Maytag Blue potato
Another great evening at J Gilbertâsâa super way to wrap up the Labor Day holiday weekend. Martinis were excellent and 1/2 price wine on Mondays is hard to beat. Fabulous buffalo mozzarella and heirloom tomato salad to start followed by a sirloin steak for hubby and filet & shrimp combo for me. Totally awesome and Rob, our server, made it a relaxed and wonderful evening with dinner in the barâour favorite. We have been coming here for years and it never disappoints. Thanks for a great time. Canât wait to return.

As a travel professional I attended a meeting at Dakota Steakhouse and the number of private meeting areas is commendable. While there our group enjoyed dinner. We had the steak and scallops and it was the first time in ages that a waitress asked me when presenting my meal to cut into the steak to make sure it was to my liking. It certainly was. they also have a murder mystery each month which sounds interesting. We will be back.Great to hear. Please check our website for updates or sign up for our newsletter via the website. Thank you for your business.

I took four other people here for a celebratory dinner and we left very disappointed after spending over $200.00. Our server was very friendly and chatty but, could have come by the table more often. One steak ordered well done came rare and had to be sent back. I was still eating my dinner and the check landed on the table which surprised me. I commented that no one ordered coffee or dessert and the server said she already asked them and they all said no. That was not true; nobody was ever asked. I gave the server a credit card and three gift cards to pay the bill. After about ten minutes the server came to the table and said they were having trouble processing a gift card and had no idea how long it was going to take. Server came back a few minutes later and I showed her an email from my bank - a charge in the wrong amount went to credit card. The server told me not to worry about it, it would be reversed when they closed out the registers that night. She said she still didn't know how long it was going to take to process the bill. Two of us ordered glasses of wine and I said to the server, these should be comped because of all the money we spent, the error with the steak and all this time we are waiting for the bill. She said she'd tell the manager. The server returned with the wine and the bill for it. We had ample time to drink the wine before we could pay the bill. The $80.00 I was over charged was not credited back to my account until five days later. For all this aggravation the manager couldn't be bothered to come to the table to apologize or offer us a dessert? I was embarrassed because I was treating and chose the restaurant. A well intended gesture ended up aggravating and upsetting five people. Unprofessional management.

Ruth's Chris Steak House specializes in serving aged USDA Prime steaks, broiled in a trademark 1800-degree oven and served on a plate heated to 500 degrees to ensure the steak stays "sizzling" hot. To experience fine dining at its best ⦠Just follow the s
First time to ever visit a Ruth Chris Steakhouse. Took my boyfriend there to celebrate his birthday. We ordered the fried calamari which was good, it had an spicy Asian infused flare to it. We ordered a cowboy ribeye (MW) and a boneless ribeye (M). Both steaks were clearly over cooked. We also ordered the mashed potatoes, grilled asparagus, and a ceasar salad. Mashed potatoes were creamy but nothing to rave about. The steaks were piping hot which I loved but other than the fact that the steak stayed hot through out the entire meal, there was nothing memorable about it. The service on the other hand was great! The entire staff that we had any interaction with was great! Everyone smiled, and acknowledged us. We sent his steak back because it was over cooked and it was out within minutes. Our waitress was very pleasant and friendly. They comped us a desert for over cooking his steak. We chose the cheesecake with fresh berries, which was very a delicious cheesecake. All in all it was a pleasant environment and the food was descent but definitely not worth the price. We have had comprable steaks at an Outback and Longhorn steakhouse for the fraction of the price.Hi Clm1079,We are sorry that both of your steaks were overcooked. We are glad you sent back your boyfriend's, but we would have gladly replaced yours as well. We know you have many choices of places to dine in our area, especially for steak, and we do hope you consider giving us another chance in the future.
