Every now and again we go to a Spur to remember the days of good burgers and steaks with our kids (although I do the Ranch Chicken as I don't eat red meat). This Spur is laid back as it is in the Lowveld, and the staff are relaxed, friendly and totally likeable. We enjoyed a lunch there a week ago and I really liked the ambience. This Spur is definitely my favorite breakfast stop when traveling between Richards Bay and Gauteng. Easy and safe parking is also important to me.The service is fast and the breakfast nice and fresh. Malalane does not have plenty of bars or restaurants not connected to Lodges. This one is serves good beer, and fine pizzas. Just be aware that South Africans seems to love cheese. If it's not your favorite I would ask them to go light on it :-)

Lunch stopover during a visit to Kruger. Average service was a bit tardy but the food was excellent. If the waiters receive some training this place will be awesome.

We stopped for lunch at The Chubby Pig on recommendation from our guide on a visit to the Blyde River Canyon. Tucked away down a dusty track, The Chubby Pig is a real gem. Right by a river in a beautiful setting, the food was excellent and good value, and the staff really friendly.Highly recommended.

Best place to have a juicy tender steak. Good service and value too. Great specials places it in reach of below Spur steakhouse pricing. It also caters for next level cuisine but this comes at a correspo ding price. Bar one milkshakes are wickedly good!

First restaurant on our SA trip but my boys, who ate a lot of meat during the next 3 weeks, said best fillet and ribs were at Pioneer's! Don't forget to ask for an additional salad or something else if you like this, it's not included as in Europe (as we learned later on ;-)) Cosy on the couches inside. Service was ok but we've had friendlier waitresses along the way. Owner came to check if everything was ok, that was great!Thank you for your kind comment, sorry for the late responce, I only saw it now, going through all the comments. We appreciate it very much. I have a wall that I put up the comments, the staff need to see and be motivated. Thank you again. The waitress will see and know!
