Booked 7-course tasting menu on 5pm, and was impressed with the friendly and informal service provided. Last visited the venue in the early 2000s when Mexican food was served.Shabby chic décor with candles and fairy lights provided a relaxing backdrop. Very creative and clever use of local ingredients by the chef resulted in impressive flavours and textures. Highlights were the brill fillet with potato and cauliflower puree, sharing apple tarte tartin with rum and raisin ice-cream, and the pork belly with black pudding. Using black pepper in a savoury granola was really inspired too, and the refreshing lemon sorbet was fantastic.Although we cleared our plates, some elements required a bit of re-work. Sun-blush tomato butter in a dish, longer cooking of the baked beetroot, and more pastry on the tarte tartin would have turned a very good dinner into an exceptional one.Minor issues aside, if you like modern Scottish food (red meat in particular), this is really worth a try.

Went for dinner last night and the food was fantastic. We started with some warm bread to share then I had the ribeye (with chips and none marrow jus) and my wife had the filet mignon (with garlic butter and rosemary and garlic potatoes). Wine was an Argentinian Malbec. Both steaks were cooked to perfection and were so tender. They melted in the mouth and for me the jus added so much to the flavour. The restaurant was quiet with only one other couple but it was a Sunday night. Service was excellent and for the quality of food I thought the bill (circa £100 with tip) was reasonable

Beefeater opened their doors back in 1974, and were driven by a passion for glorious steak. Mouth-watering cuts at mouth-watering prices was their motto. Reassuringly nothing's changed, these things still drive them today and they always will. Beefeater b
We had both breakfast and supper here. The breakfast was fantastic! A wide variety of both hot and cold selections. We were starting our hike of the West Highland way and needed a hearty breakfast and we certainly got that. Supper was good as well. We ate off the value menu and enjoyed the food. Our servers particularly at breakfast were great.
