Reviews on Steakhouse food in Mar del Plata, Province of Buenos Aires, Argentina. Argentina's top beach resort town, Mar del Plata boasts 10 miles of sandy beaches, from family-oriented La Perla in the north to very popular Bristol in the center and sophisticated Faro in the south. Regardless of the beach, expect very dense crowds, particularly in the summer months. Once an elite enclave, it now attracts visitors of all budgets.

While walking in the Guemes shopping district which is on Guemes Street & covers a few blocks in several directions, we spotted La Palmera. Nice clean newer looking building raised up about 3 feet from the sidewalk, providing excellent viewing. We went in to view the menú and decided to return that evening. When we arrived the big grill was full of meat! So, we ordered Lomo(filet mignon) at 137 pesos. We split the meat and it was very good, plus cooked the way we had asked. Even though only one other couple when we arrived at 8:30pm, the people kept coming. Over half full by 9pm on a Wednesday. Our waiter greeted us quickly and before you knew it food was coming. We also had empanadas, matambre, and bean/beets, but no wine. We could not order dessert, as we were so full. They give a 10% discount when paying in cash. We have noticed cash discounts in many of the small nicer stores too. Service charge is only 5 pesos each. Our bill was 270 pesos after the cash discount. We gave the good server 300 pesos and said keep the change. Quite a good deal, for an evening in Guemes, which we walked around afterwards.

Very nice set up, rare for Mar del Plata. Attention can be improved for more professional waiters.Food list is simple, mainly Beef, nothing better, especially in Argentina, with the grass feed meat.Prices are right.Only one issue. Only two Chardonnays in the list and not the best. Will go back. nice evening.

Highly recommendable parrilla for under 10 bucks per person, good wine list, knowledgeable waiters and high end management. This place is one of very few parrillas that is open year-round, which means, locals and value oriented capitalinos eat there every day. hard to get in w/out reservations a day in advance. Starts serving at 9 pm and fills up by 9:30 - certainly worth the 5 dollar cab fare, the area offers nothing else at night, so no use walking around, next cab stand 3 blocks down from Plaza del Agua

This is an excelent for either dine, start your nightlife, and even to stay. They have life music, great food, traditional drinks from Argentina, and GREAT SERVICE. I was there in Mar del Plata for a week and I would go to Pehuen daily. Great Place, trust me!!!!

A nice parrilla with excelent meat cuts.Service is awfull, from the very beggining. The hostess didn' t allow us to sit on any table, unless our group was complete (we were three, waiting for two more people, and there were plenty of empty tables). The waiter seemed to be with his mind elsewhere, as we had to repeat our order several times. There are better options for the same money ( or less).

Another get together with colleagues from all over the world. A number of smaller dishes as starters were generally fine. A very nice dish of fried cheese, a decent morcilla. But unfortunately, the bifes de chorizo that came were badly cooked, nothing like the medium rare that we had requested, more on the well done side. The flavour of the meat itself was fine and this could have been a better dish. Wine was fine. The owners offerd us some limonincello on the house. It was pleasant to sit outside but the food on the whole was not as good as in the other two parrillas that I had visited on the days before.

Fantastic parilla (they have two branches, we only tried this one). Great value for money. I got the entrana for under 200 pesos and thought it was a one person serving based on the price, but it probably could feed two (or one if you want to be super full. Totally worth it in my opinion). Wine was good too. And the grilled vegetable side was nice. Great ambience. I'd suggest getting there earlier than the 9:30/10pm typical Argentinian dinner time to ensure you get a seat (though it was around the Christmas period when we went so that's probably why it was quite busy)

La Guapa is a traditional restaurant in the city of Mar del Plata, which offers the best Argentinian meats accompanied by fine wines. It has an extensive menu with dishes , pasta and fish.
Had dinner at La Guapa based on the recommendation of the staff at Hotel Dos Reyes (mentioned elsewhere for their excellent help.) We were not disappointed.Menu has all the standard parilla fare plus other dishes that require a good cook in addition to the BBQ tender. My wife had very good sole (or some mild white fish) with a roquefort sauce, I had mollejas in a mushroom and wine cream sauce, highly recommended if you like sweetbreads. (And if you don't know what they are, you should try them while you're in Argentina.) One of the nicest things about Mar del Plata is the mix of single-family dwellings and small commercial areas on clean, safe, side streets. We had a pleasant walk to La Guapa, and the atmosphere inside was warm and inviting, with a convivial crowd. (Reservations would be recommended at peak hours.) Strongly disagree with the review that describes La Guapa as "muy caro" (expensive); our bill (for two) was just over $60 with a nice bottle of malbec, considerably less than you'd pay in a good steakhouse in the US, or at many higher-end parillas in Buenos Aires. Service was not up to the usual Argentinian standard (which is very good), but was acceptable. An experience that can be enjoyed by both beef lovers and other diners, definitely above average in this reviewer's opinion.

Although we do not eat meat so often, we went there invited by a couple of friends. It was really a nice surprise to find a good place like this one in the city. As we are used to the Brazilian style of "churrascarias", where you can eat different types of meat instead of being tied to a menu, we experienced most of the different options offered. Meat was really good: tender and well prepared. The empanadas offered as starters were even better. The place is very nice and we found outstanding the way we were treated by the waiters. On top of that, prices are reasonable for what they offer. For sure we will go back.
