Although Prime rib and shrimp cocktail were excellent, the appetizers made a meal for several of us. The stuffed mushrooms were outstanding, the antipasto was as well. The waiter had a very friendly personality. The staff sang happy birthday and brought a nice piece of cake and candle. Nice touch. It’s not easy doing a group of ten, they did well.

My wife and I inquired about the quality of the food at 308 Prime within the Holiday Inn. The desk clerk told us that the food was “freshly prepared” and not “pre-packaged” and heated for serving. We took a chance and we didn’t regret it.I ordered Broiled Haddock served with butter in a wine sauce. It was scrumptious, well seasoned and cooked just right. Several sides were offered. I chose mashed potatoes and mixed vegetables. My wife ordered a chicken breast topped a mixture of diced tomatoes, onions, assorted herbs and olive oil. The chicken breast was tender and tasty. A salad was her choice for a side. Our waitress frequently checked on us to make sure everything was fine.We were seated near a large fireplace, which was nice. It was an off night, so it was quiet. However, I noticed that in peak season, it may be a little noisier since the tables were too closely spaced for my comfort. This may be hard to have dinner conversation without “eavesdropping “ on your neighbor’s dinner conversation. At checkin my wife and I each received a voucher for a cash reduction from our breakfast meal. This resulted in approximately a 50% reduction from our breakfast bill. Nice perk.

I ordered the seafood casserole, which the menu said contained shrimp, crabmeat, and lobster. I was very dismayed to discover that the crabmeat consisted of the fake "Sea Legs" type, which is not crabmeat at all but some kind of fish. And the casserole was mostly that, with only a few small shrimp and a couple of tiny morsels of lobster meat in it. A big disappointment and not worth the cost. My partner had a hot roast beef sandwich which he enjoyed, and the soup of the day, corn and cauliflower chowder, was excellent. Service was friendly but very slow.
