Juan is a wonderful host as well as barman and cook. We had dinner here and were impressed with the food but also by the really friendly welcome we were given. First courses of goats cheese salad and crochetas were substantial and delicious. Seconds of lamb and duck also really well received. Desserts white chocolate cheesecake and a melting chocolate pudding were wonderful. Throw in a few beers and a really nice bottle of white and for 60 Euros you can't go wrong

I came to Girona for only one night while traveling alone, and was focused on getting Calçots while there. My accommodation host suggested L'Argada to me. I started with some wine, ordering what I thought was a glass of red for 9 Eur. which turned out to be the whole bottle! Good start. I had my Calçots with Romesco, absolutely delicious and plentiful. I added a local sausage and some small bites and all in all it was perfect for the evening. It's a homestyle place, friendly and casual but obviously experienced and good at what they do. If I were in Girona longer it would have been my go-to for good regional meals.

We were taken by Catalan friends who live in Girona and have been regulars of this restaurant for many years. We were blown away by the quality of the food, the ingenuity, presentation and flavours. The owner/proprietor served us and he was absolutely charming. Not to put the chef in the shade ( his mother I believe), he made the fabulous tart tatin for our dessert. If you go there be sure not to miss it. I have had many tart tatins in my time but this was undoubtedly the best ever.

El Balco specialises in meat, from sausages, ribs, rabbit, iberico pork to some of the finest steaks around. All of our meats were grilled to perfection by the grill master who has 30 years experience behind the grill. The wine and service was also very good.Good quality meats cooked over charcoal, what could be better!
