My husband purchased a Groupon voucher for our wedding anniversary meal however due to Groupon messing up the voucher and not refunding it (long story) we lost out. However when we contacted Sammy the manager (and also chef) she was so obliging and helpful, and went out of her way to make sure that when we finally was able to come and have a meal we weren’t disappointed. When we arrived the staff had dressed the table with an anniversary banner and even a card! The meal was SO delicious (4th time eating there) and every meal has been so good. Every type of steak is tasty so whichever you choose you can’t go wrong. You cook it yourself on a super hot stone plate which is actually great as you can cook it to your liking. HUGE portions, even if you have a big appetite you will be full! All steaks come with the best chunky chips, salad, tomatoes and large mushroom.Nice atmosphere too, great selection of all the usual bar drinks/wines/spirits etc. Modern setting. Staff knowledgable and friendly.FORGET going to Emily’s steakhouse as it’s absolute rubbish. Spend your well earned money wisely and go to The Forge. Book early and don’t get a table too late as they may run out of your favourite cut of meat! See you again in November Forge This is fantastic... thank you for your review xx

I had a planned trip this week to Derbyshire from Kent for my dad's birthday. My dad/ my husband and myself love steak so I decided to Google "best steak house in Derby" and was presented with Emily's website. It looked delicous. My husband called right away to make a booking. We went for our meal this evening and was seated by the own. A very warm and genuine welcome.Ordered drinks, no rush to order food. Although my dad and husband knew right away which steak they wanted I needed more time. My mum is pecestarian. My husband had the T bone (requested medium well) my dad has a light Rump (requested well done) I had a light Rump (requested medium well). My mum had the seafood linguine. The food came out in an acceptable amount of time for fresh cooked food. The steaks were all cooked perfectly and delicous. No fat on the rump, the light (8oz) was a perfect serving size for me. The chips with the steak are homemade and you can tell as far superior to your "normal" chips. They also have sweet potato crisps mixed in which gives a lovely balance. A nice size serving of peas (not half a plate as a filled like most pubs) and a small dressed salad. We had a portion of onion rings to share and this came out in a tower sufficient for 4 people! Every element of the meal was superb. Mum had the seafood linguine - this had huge whole prawns and was a very large portion, served with garlic bread and a side salad. She has had a favourite linguine for a number of years at a local Italian but this far surpassed this. We decided we had room for pudding (who doesn't)I had the Jam roly poly,I have not had this for so long, this took me back to my childhood and was such a comforting tasty pudding. My husband has the cinnamon waffle and ice cream. He enjoyed this alot and it didn't last on his plate long! My mum had rhubarb crumble and my dad the ice cream Sunday. Again lots of praise given. The owner came to speak to us during our meal and showed genuine I interest in her customers. It was also wonderful to here about the new restaurants opening. She asked why we had come for dinner and we said it was for my dad's birthday and we were up from Kent. Later in the meal the owner came over with 4 glasses of bubbles for us which was so lovely. We had the best time. Amazing food, lovely staff, impeccably clean. Can't wait to go back.

Went for Sunday lunch today, and was extremely disappointed. I had heard good reports about this restaurant, so must have caught them on a bad day.I had the roast beef Sunday lunch, which was VERY basic, and so obviously microwaved. Veg was undercooked, and potatoes and Yorkshire pud overdone. I would have liked extra gravy and horseradish sauce (a normal accompaniment to roast beef) but once the meals had been dumped on the table, no-one came to see if we needed anything more. The atmosphere was not pleasing, as was more like the old-fashioned pub rather than an eatery. Would I return ….most definitely not!Hi Mrsrobbo, thank you for taking the time to let us know about your recent experience. I'm disappointed to hear that you are not satisfied with your visit, and I'd really appreciate the opportunity to turn it around. Please can you get in touch when you have a spare moment 01332 418697
