The evening meal here consists of a salad bar and an excellent array of meat (rib eye and t-bone are my favorites) correctly cooked in a large, country style dining room (with lots of tables and three friendly waitresses who seem to know everybody because almost everyone is a local).Even better than dinner (which they call supper) is lunch (which they call dinner--go figure). Lunch is served from about 11 am until 1 pm. On Monday, they have a rib-eye salad, which is the star of the week, apparently. Tuesday (when we were there) they have an open faced beef sandwich covered with excellent gravy served with mashed potatoes and a salad. They also have a French dip sandwich. I had the open faced beef, and it was absolutely excellent. Service was very friendly, the food was served as quickly as you wanted it, and it was really inexpensive--$8 per plate plus a refillable fountain drink. This is not fancy eats. It's a locals hang-out with excellent food including great Nebraska steaks and a super lunch (er. dinner).
When back visiting my family I met up here with some friends from high school. I'd heard mixed reviews from locals, but I thought the food and service were pretty good. The salad bar had a decent variety of items to choose from and everything seemed fresh and flavorful. I had the butterfly shrimp which were quite large and had a nice, light breading. The meal also came with a side dish, so was good value for the cost. Our waitress was friendly and attentive. Overall it was a good experience.
Bistro On The Loup, located inside Ramada Columbus, is open daily for lunch and dinner.
Had dinner with business friends, only three other tables had people. Ordered the KING prime rib and a cold beer. The prime rib was done just right, arrived hot, and cut like butter. The young lady who served us was so nice and checked on us to make sure all our needs are met. Don't be concerned with the lack of people if you look in, just stop in and see for yourself how the food is. Again, the food was good, nothing special, but for the price $23.95, I would not expect anything special. So for me dinner and a cold 16 oz beer ran me only $34.63. Can't beat that price. Thank you for dining with Bistro On The Loup. I am glad that you had such a wonderful experience. We hope that you will have the opportunity to join us again soon. We appreciate your business and thank you for your continued support of Bistro On The Loup.
