Cartwrightâs Modern Cuisine honors the spirit of Arizonaâs ranching days with rustic yet upscale dining. Located on Saguaro Hill and overlooking Black Mountain and the Sonoran desert foothills, the restaurantâs ambience inside is as captivating as the set
This is a first class service, fantastic food, and chef/owners that care. We did the tasting menu and it was more than could have been expected. The flavors and menu were amazing. The chef personally delivered each dish and explained how it tied back to the local ingredients and wineries. We will be back and you should not pass this up. We highly recommend it!!! Hello and thank you for dining with us as well as taking the time to write a wonderful review! We are so happy to hear how much you enjoyed the Chef's Tasting Menu. If you are looking for a unique Arizona dining experience the Tasting Menu is definitely the way to go as the chef and his team are out foraging for wild, native foods to enhance each plate on the menu daily. Pairing those dishes with wines that come from the same areas seems like the best way to experience all that Cartwright's has to offer. Thanks again and we look forward to seeing you again soon.-Cody Heller, Owner

Relatively new to the area. Doing a nice job. Handled our group of 15 nicely. Varied menu, good wines in an upscale casual setting. Good vibes. Customers, mostly local I assume, seemed happy with their experience. Would definitely return.

True farm to table dining experience with a casual setting and the best bourbon selection in the valley with over 250 to choose from. All the beef is grass fed and is USDA Prime, with freshest fish flown in daily. Shop the local markets daily for all the
I made a long trip to find this place, intrigued by its name: I drove 28 miles to find it: it felt like I had reached Cave Creek... And I expected much more. Maybe it was my problem: I expected too much from a place in the middle of nowhere (don't let the name Scottsdale Rd fool you, like it did me). We arrived for late lunch, only one other table occupied. The doors are kept open so it was on the chilly side (outside temp 55). After a long delay we were told our Bourbon selection (from the menu) is not available. We insisted and they eventually found it âon the back of the cabinetâ. The first round of drinks was miserable in size. The second- a bit better. And they weren't cheap, mind you. Same for the burgers. The bison burger got rave reviews but the chicken was on the dry side. It showed on the menu âwith lettuce & tomatoesâ but instead came over some hay, otherwise known as âfield greensâ. No bread. Service: distracted, with long periods of disappearance. In a strange twist, our waiter raved about the place where he works at night, Pane e vino, (self-supplied info) while his current location was mentioned somewhat condescendingly, as âthis is just lunchâ...Prices, especially liquor, too high for location and for service. I wish I could rate it better, but I cannot. And I don't think I'll endeavor the long trip again.
