Fleming's Downtown Austin, TX is an ongoing celebration of exceptional steak and wine. We are located beside the Austin Convention Center, near 6th Street, Holly, and South Congress.
Had a very average dinner here. I ordered the aged rib-eye steak and wife had the Chilean sea bass. Both dishes were just ok; nothing more. Like other steak houses, everything here is ala-carte so on top of $50 + for an entreâ, they make you shell out an additional $12 for a side vegetable. Waiter claimed the vegetable was âserved family styleâ however the 6 stalks of asparagus we got were barely enough for one! I find when high end restaurants do this, itâs incredibly offensive and just a tactic to drive up the bill (similar to hotels that continue to charge guests for WiFi...they do it because they can get away with it but it pisses people off!). With plenty of other, better options in Austin, Iâd recommend saving your money and trying someplace else.

Valet parking is available and reservations are highly recommended. There are several dining areas including outdoor overlooking Lake Travis and in the large bar area. We usually eat here once during our visits to Austin and usually have great staff except this time. I don't know if she was new or just had too many tables but service was not as great as normal. Regardless, it was our 50th anniversary so we enjoyed a beautiful table, relaxing piano music, great wine, delicious steak and a free banana pudding dessert. Later, we took our wine to the outdoors and enjoyed the guitar music and watch the sun set over the lake.

Ample parking and easy access to entrance. Great Happy Hour drink and appetizer prices. The bartenders know their jobs and are friendly as well. The tables are spaced far enough apart to provide plenty of room to sit and stand up. Server was friendly, professional and accommodating to our party of four. My filet was cooked a perfect medium and the flavor and texture were excellent. The Big Ass Burger and pork loin were superb as well. It does get a little noisy when the dinner crowd shows up but not loud enough to require shouting to converse. We enjoyed the dinner very much and will return.

We were looking for a nice steakhouse to celebrate our 27th anniversary. We lucked out by picking the one closest to our hotel! It was amazing! We went to III Forks based upon reviews from Trip Advisor and found the restaurant to be âas advertisedâ and more. Service was outstanding - our waiter, Joshua, was everything one could hope for and chatting with him, between courses, made the evening that much more special. When we were deciding on a wine, Joshua invited us into the wine âcellarâ. We were joined there by the sommelier (sorry, forgot his name) who was also very helpful and professional. The wine he recommended was great. Our dinner was delicious- steak, Caesar salad and simply sautéed spinach. We had no room left for dessert!!! Highly recommended. Thanks for the review and for coming to dine with us.

Austin has many good restaurants, although the tend towards cowboy/Mexican/Italian varieties. Fortunately The Capital Grille provides an alternative. Being Texas there are steak and potato type menu items, but also many other, more thoughtful and sophisticated choices including nice fish and dinner salad options. Wait staff was simply superb on our visit - attentive but not hovering, friendly and competent. Add good wine, beer and cocktail offerings and you have the makings of a great evening's dinner.
