Find out what Spanish restaurants to try in Tucson. Although Tucson's fantastic weather, national parks and forests and desert provide the perfect environment for tons of outdoor recreational activities, this city of half a million people also has its share of history and culture. With a history that goes back much further than many of its southwestern neighbors, Tucson boasts turn-of-the-century architecture, historic neighborhoods, museums and the Mission San Xavier del Bac, a still-functioning 18th-century mission considered one of the most beautiful in the U.S. Mexican and Native American influences are pervasive, and the city has a distinctly Western flavor. There's also a college-town atmosphere, thanks to the University of Arizona, which has its own share of museums and a science center. Whether golfing at a world-class golf resort, horseback riding, hiking in the wilderness, discovering desert flora and fauna at the Arizona-Sonora Desert Museum or exploring pre-Columbian and other art at the Tucson Art Museum, you'll have a mind-boggling array of things to do.

Established in 1922, El Charro Cafe of Tucson, Arizona is The Nation's Oldest Mexican Restaurant in continuous operation by the same family. Featuring traditional Northern Mexico-Sonoran style and innovative Tucson-style Mexican Food, El Charro Cafe is tr
Went to âthe originalâ location. great atmosphere. itâs like dining inside of your grandmothers house. Really enjoyed the inside. we split a rather large plate of their famous âcarne seca â which they apparently make / cure onsite. In reality itâs a fairly typical dish of northern mexico known as âcarne desebradaâ or sonoran-style âropa viejaâ , but it was a decent portion for $15 and was pretty good. Came with rice and beans and really good tortillas. It was 115 degrees outside, so we only split this dish over some drinks, because it was too hot to really go full force on eating. I had a beer that was a local brew and it was really enjoyable. Had a smokey flavor, but cannot remember the name. The margarita was ok, but not my favorite. Chips and salsa were delicious. Apparently the birthplace of the chimichanga... but again it was so hot outside we couldnât bring ourselves to eat a giant fried burrito. Would like to return for a rematch. The location is convenient to downtown and 4th avenue. Interesting things to check out here. Worth the visit!

TIP: Get the "small guacamole" as a side order and use your salsa chips to enjoy it. It's an economical way to have a great treat that extends a very enjoyable meal. This casual restaurant is friendly and cheerful. There are both booths and tables (not a tablecloth place -- at least when I was there late afternoon). The salsa & chips were very good and the delicious entrees were served in a fancier style than I expected from the informal room setting.

Was at a fighter pilot reunion and being from Vermont needed a Mexican food fix. Found this for lunch with two buddies. It was full of locals and the food was great! It was sooo good that we insisted some fellow pilots join us there for dinner. They did and also loved it. The service as well as the food could not be surpassed.

Drove in from Phoenix airport, to Loweâs V Canyon Resort, and a quick dinner on a Thursday night. It was So busy we had to eat outside on the patio or wait 20-minutes. I ordered a chicken salad, that was, huge and I eventually took at least half back to the room. It was fine and large. Service was not very good, out on the patio, and long wait times. Had to ask for water refills, drinks, salsa, etc. Not a place Iâd recommend. Slow, uncaring service. Not real fun.
