We were 6 men, cycling in Galicia, and staying at a VRBO rental in Lamela. We heard about Porta do Sol from the owners, and had the most amazing seafood dinners on Saturday night. Two of our group shared a huge & delicious portion of seafood chowder, the scallops (zamburiñas) were superb, as were the other fish dishes. When we asked about why few restaurants featured lamb or goat (cordero or cabrito), the head waiter said that they would be pleased to do a meal for us upon request. Well... given our cycling schedule, we returned the very next day for an amazing roast cordero (suckling lamb), done in the wood-fired, stone oven on the lower level, where we had a table set up just for us...after the late "almuerzo" diners were gone, and before the typical "cena" hours. (The restaurant is closed Sunday nights, so we could not schedule a cena there.) Preparation of the 6 kg cordero started hours before we arrived with lighting the wood fire, then slow-roasting the lamb in the stone oven... YUM!Our one vegetarian got a great dish of grilled vegetables; our host complimented the meal with a 2001 Reserve Rioja wine. Desserts included mini-samples of ALL the desserts on the menu, and...and then, the very cheerful local "orujo" [local brandy or grappa] topped off everything. Other reviews commented that the restaurant is expensive; well, that's true, since we ate extraordinarily well for 3 weeks in Galicia for 1/2 to 1/3 of what it would cost in most US cities. But our tab for this custom feast -- including 3 (Was it 4?) bottles of wine, and a generous extra tip (never a requirement in Spain), came to about 45 euros each (about $54 USD) for a meal that might be possible to find in the US for perhaps $100 - 150 a person, IF you could even find a restaurant that would accommodate your request. Our seafood meals the night before averaged about 25-35 euros a person.Porta do Sol is an experience of a lifetime! Don't miss it!Muchas gracias por su comentario. Siempre es para nosotros un orgullo que nuestros clientes se marchen satisfechos. Esperamos verlos de nuevo por nuestro restaurante. Reciban un cordial saludo

I was taken to this place with the promise that I woud eat the best pulpo in Galicia. Additionally we also ordered richada, and some cheese with "membrillo" for afters. I must say that my satisfaction was full. Very very recommendable. We visited the place in a non very bussy day and we had the opportunity to talk with the owner and visit the process to cook the pulpo. Exceptional. Thanks thanks a lot for your dedication and the excellent dinner. Do not forget to order some white "vino de la casa" also exceptinally good.
Top 10 Spanish food in Medina de Pomar, Province of Burgos, Spain

This is a simple barbecue restaurant, ranch style, that has a bar and also a restaurant that has no menu or a la carte. It offers you either a juicy cotelette or a menu with a variety of beef meat, very well barbecued with French fries and a simple salad + a drink. Both cost around 11⬠with a soft drink. You can get as much meat from the menu as you want for the same price. As for the cotelette it is calculated by weight of meat consumed. It is easy to find the place if you are on the main road between Ribadulla and Silleda.

Lovely little restaurant this although you may spend a while trying to find it. Ensure you follow the location on the TripAdvisor map!I had the menu of the day and could not believe the quality and quantity of the food. To start with bread, cheese and different types of Spanish ham followed by your every day pork, eggs and chips, served with salad. I almost fell over when the waiter said the bill came to â¬10 including a coke and cheesecake. You can see why itâs so popular with the locals mind. Would recommend to anyone in the area whoâs looking for something cheap to fill their stomachs with quality food!Thank you very much, pleased to have satisfied your expectativas.

At the far end of town, a local bar/restaurant with good food and good service. I had a lunchtime beer and nice breakfast burger (eggs, bacon, cheese, etc,) for less than 6euro. Evening menu del dia is typical format at 12euro but came with an appetizer of 2pinchos/tapas. I left the choice to lady owner and had a whiting type starter (but bigger), steak with salad, cheesecake, nice bottle of vino tinto and coffee. Competent and friendly service. All very tasty. What more could you want?
