This family owned restaurant is in a cave with wonderful natural light and ambience. The food was so delicious, we over-ate. Mr Dominguez was a perfect host providing suggestions, explanations, and complementary after dinner liqueurs of three varieties. There is a wonderful patio beneath a tiled wall on the broad sidewalk in front...which is rare in this town of narrow streets.

Having spent the afternoon in the village of Setenil de las Bodegas, we decided to have our evening meal in the Tugasa Hotel El Almendral (where we were staying for the night). Very clean restaurant (with small bar attached); nice views over the pool area; great service - very friendly; excellent lamb chops and veal steak; Good value too - at 56 Euros including a good Ribera del Duero, shared salad started, Arroz Frio (cold rice pud) and a liqueur...

We stopped at Cafe Bar Polear and enjoyed a fabulous lunch of a delicious tomato soup followed by a arugula salad with yogurt and chicken and then mushroom risotto followed by rare tuna all paired with a thoughtful selection of local wines. The staff were incredibly kind and gracious and administered to one of our group who entered the bar covered in blood from a bike accident. The fantastic food, wine and kindness restored our spirits and wounds. Gracias

Another visit to this intriguing and lovely 'white' village - Setenil De Las Bodegas. Again we stopped for lunch at Casa Palermo but on this occasion (due to inclement weather) we ate inside. Charming interior cut into the cliff wall.Perfect friendly service and tasty, well cooked food. Very reasonable prices compared to restaurants on the coast.I delightful experience.Highly recommended

Nice place where to try traditional or elaborated food dishes. Amazing service from waiting and kitchen staff. Don't forget to ask for specials of the day out of the menu. Always using seasonal products. I tried a potato salad with cod, ox tail croquettes and bonito fish on the grill. Everything well paired with a selected national range of wines. On sweet time we enjoyed a homemade flan made up with vanilla from Madagascar and a grilled pumpkin fringe. Only 20min from Ronda and 1h from Malaga.

This is one of many local pubs offering tapas and raciones. It is below the rock, so the location is particular. The tapas look curious and taste pretty fine. The service, however, is not so friendly. Perhaps the waiters are bored in the mid-summer season. I mean, a bit slow and having smoking breaks quite often.

When someone says you are going to have dinner in a cave, your expectations are probably pretty low. Fortunately, the food, service and decor of this restaurant went way above that expectation. I arrived with a group of hungry cyclists for lunch and we ordered a variety of tapas. Stuffed artichoke, Jamon, croquets, etc to share. The presentation and preparation blew me away. And the flavors were excellent across the board. This while sitting outside underneath a cliff! The. I went inside and the ceiling of the restaurant is the old Cave. Not your usual place.Great food, fair price, and a relaxing fun environment. What more could you want from a restaurant?.

The cafe is like many of the properties here. It is set in a cave with the front walled in to make a building. It also has a terrace overlooking the other side of the gorge. A very pleasant place to relax and have a drink or light meal.

While touring Ronda we took a day to tour some nearby villages. Setenil de las Bodegas is definitely worth a visit. We selected Bar Frasquito based on Tripadvisor reviews. We were able to get an outside table and had prompt service. Ordered beers and an order of pescadito fritos. I had the little fried fish all over southern Spain. Enjoyed these mores than most. Some you just eat the whole fish head and all but these were best if you stripped the meat from the bones. The special was 6 small sandwiches (montaditos?) of 3 kinds of filling-- sausage, blood sausage, and pork. Okay but not my favorite thing. Actually the grilled blood sausage was better than I expected. To fully rate the restaurant you would need to try other things on the menu. Note on parking-- do not recommend you turn down the street with the restaurants. It is restricted at times and you have to drive through the table are. We drove up the hill and parked and walked back down to cliff area.
