Santo Domingo, the capital of the Dominican Republic and a UNESCO world heritage site, is the oldest continuously inhabited European settlement in the Americas and one of the most populous cities in the Caribbean. The city is a mix of old world charm and modern Latin flair. Its medieval palaces and fortresses mix with nightlife and shopping to rival any modern city in the world. You'll find pristine beaches and hidden gems like a salsa/merengue club set inside a huge underground cave.

When I visit clients nowadays i am older than most but when I went for lunch to Vizcaya... saw 1955 i could only say to myself: oh finally older than me! And there he was, the proud owner of the restaurant founded in 1955 was their enjoying his experience and legacy! My grill mahi mahi known as dorado and veggies with a Presidente beer served at perfect cold caribbean temperature unknown to germans was perfect. Expresso coffee was as good as the meal. No wonder Vizcaya has been in business for over 60 years!

We dined here daily for breakfast during our 10 day stay. Food selections were awesome, but service was not consistent. We enjoyed the spacious dining area, fresh omelette ingredients selections, and the variety of fresh squeezed juices. I especially enjoyed Dominican grilled vegetable and egg dishes. Recommended for a great breakfast!

Looking for fish or seafood restaurant , we went to that restaurant, a little bit outside of piantini area. Good surprise : crowded but not too much noisy , Dominican restaurant with no expats but just local people . Reasonable price for good quality fish and seafood , in the true season of langoustas.

I write this review as a first for me, but feel it’s warranted We were highly recommended this restaurant by lots of friends and business colleagues It’s in a great neighborhood and upon entering the decor is spectacular The dining room is beautiful the waiters very professional and capable The menu is huge and we had already decided we’re going the tapas route and order three or floor tapas then go from there. Now understand this, I have travelled all over the world and lived in Spain so I know what tapas are and what to expect Tapas should be small plates of delicious food and usually I order three or four then maybe a couple more etc Also please remember my girlfriend is Dominican a hotel manager and we both know our way around any menu etc With the waiters assistance ( I wanted to order the Serrano ham but he said it was huge and came with potatoes) this should’ve been a warning as it was listed as a tapa. We ordered four what we thought were small plates of tapas. What came was hard to fathom. The croquettes came out first a huge portion on a dinner plate bland and honestly tasteless then after 15 mins the tuna tartar came this was fabulous very tasty but had an odd twist with yuca and avocado not sure yuca works but good dish again very large for a tapas next again after at least 15 mins the next dish came ( we had specifically told the waiter we were ordering them all together) this dish looked super on the menu lamb wrapped in peppers grilled. When it came it was a huge dish and actually looked like lasagne at first glance once you pulled back an enormous layer of cheese the pepper were swimming in a cheese sauce the lamb was horrible the dish was a total disappointment and so miss represented on the menu it baffled me I even asked for the menu in Spanish and english and re read the description. No mention of cheese at all or sauce this was very weird. The waiter removed it immediately very polite we then ordered on his recommendation the cheese sticks something of a house specialty they came over cooked some literally exploded bland and tasteless and agin a huge portion I really struggled writing this as I don’t like to be negative but feel this is a honest representation. With only two days in the city this dinner was a bust and ruined our last night it was also too late to go elsewhere They removed the dish from the bill but at no time did a manager approach our table and offer any explanation again for a restaurant of this quality I was very surprised The decor is ultra high end and very welcoming but on our visit the food was a total failure

It is actually situated in a natural cave, now accessible with an elevator. Good Service from pleasant waiters and good local and international food is on the menu. Above the cave they have built a beaurifil grill with live musiv and dancing floor. I prefer dining in the cave.

I have been staying at the intercon in Santo Domingo. Don Pepe is two blocks away. I balked at the idea of dressing up; the hotel concierge politely suggested I should and she was probably right. The service was excellent. The crab croquette was ok but the whole snapper with garlic was excellent. I took the waiter’s recommendation of a local corn creme brûlée and Barcelo rum: he was right.A thoroughly good evening. I’m coming back.

The food in Elizondo seem interesting at first, but sorry to say, it gets boring really really fast. The biggest problem come from the sauce and seasoning they use, it’s basic garlic and olive oil, the appetizer start with it, the main plate have the same, we didn’t try the dessert, so hopefully it’s not something with the same. Don’t get me wrong, the food here is amazing, too bad it’s just get boring too fast for me.Dear Mr. ChangThank you very much for your review, it give us the chance to clarify our concept with you and other guests. We don't pretend our customer to visit us every day, even pizza could be boring if you eat it to often. Our purpose is to offer a reduced amount of plates (steaks and seafood) with the best quality you can find in the city, so our customers can return to our restaurant every time they want to eat the best squid in town or the best steak whatsoever. We do have other sauces, and condiments: squid in ink sauce, or Vizcaina Cod, or Pork in barbecue sauce, or you can ask for our super tender and flavorful griddle steak, or our Smoked on the table salmon with American cherry wood, for example. It is not the intention of Elizondo to be "everything to everybody". That's why we do not offer pizza or pasta or ceviche, neither sushi rolls or fried rice for example. We are an Asadero estilo Vasco, basically a Basque griddle Steakhouse style. We totally agree with you when you described our food as "amazing" and we promesse to you and to all our guests that we will continue effort our self to the limit to keep it that way all the time.Hope we see you in the future.Regards
