Things to do in Rio Grande
Recently I stayed at the Wyndham Rio Mar Hotel in Rio Grande, Puerto Roico. It was a beautiful hotel and I loved every minute, however i would like to share my experience regarding a local family restaurant. Traveling East on Route 3, you will see a sign "Rio Mar next left". After making the turn, directly to your right will be a parking with four stores. There you will find, the restuarant "Mi Puerto Cafe". This small intimate eatery, is a family operated business which provides delicious breakfast and lunch at a very reasonable rate. Just as an example our breakfast which consist of two eggs, ham or bacon, potatoes, toast, orange juice and coffe, cost us $3.50 per person. In addition, the father serended my husband and I with beautiful sounds from his guitar. I could share other experiences, however i would highly suggest you stop by to create some memories of your own.

In El Yunque Rainforest
We were brought here to this little “shack” (– for lack of a better word—) for lunch as part of our El Yunque guided tour. We ordered some Chicken Tacos, Yellow Rice with Beans, and Sheesh Kabobs from an outside vendor. The food was surprisingly flavorful and tasty, and the prices were quite inexpensive. The Pina Colada was strong and well made.It was a good enough lunch stop. By the time people arrive after a tiring walk or a hike, they are so hungry that everything tastes good – even all the fried stuff. The place is remotely located. I do not believe anyone drives here just to have a meal. So probably, they cater only to the tourists who are in the Rainforest. We were quite a big group. The place was already almost full, but they do have inside and outside seating. The service was fast, and we were out of there in half an hour.If we were driving there on our own, we would not have stopped here. But we did enjoy it with our jolly tour group. And, Kudos to the staff! They were so warm and welcoming, and service was with big smiles.

Jibaro's Borinquen Restaurant is a family restaurant that makes typical Puerto Rican cuisine. We try to please all our customers and make it an extraordinary dinning experience.

A Puerto Rican cuisine restaurant just reopened months ago, fully renovated. Iguanas Cocina Puertorriqueña, now features an open-view demonstration kitchen and seating for up to 104 guests. Overlooking the El Yunque National Forest and the River Course, i
We loved the wings, the pizza and the fried chicken there. Very pricey like the other restaurants here and it may break your budget if you have a family of four or more. Service was good, no wait and it's a little slow when they have more than one table. Very clean, upscale and nice/new. Best place to eat at the hotel.

Small place that offers good food for good prices. If you are staying in the Wyndham resort, come here for breakfast or lunch. Much cheaper than anything else around. The lunch buffet is $6 and you get rice, beans, and a meat.

Pasion was recommended to us by a staff member at the resort we were staying in. Whenever abroad I always ask locals if they could eat anywhere, where would it be. Passion was the immediate answer from several employees. Located outside of Fajardo, Pasion is a very upscale restaurant that specializes in seafood dishes. Our party of four ordered a variety of entrees in order to try as many menu items as possible. The snapper was delicious and the fish presentation was a favorite! From the time we walked in the door the service was excellent and the food was spot on. I ordered a side of sweet potato fries and they were absolutely cooked to perfection and delicious. The restaurant is approximately a 35 minute drive from San Juan and is definitely worth the time.

Two couples, brought two bottles of wine with us, $13 corkage fee, wow 1. We had appetizer assortment which was good. However the grouper crusted in plantains was delicious, the guava sauce and garlic sauces on our groupers were amazing. The quality and quantity perfect. Service good as well. Small place but worth the wait. Thanks! We invite you to second floor!! Visit our Wine Cellar! Capacity for 80 more people’s!!! Thanks again

It doesn't look like much, but the food was extremely satisfying and the price was incredible. We tried several things (1/2 chicken, pork sausage, pork thighs). Off all that we tried, the chicken was the winner. Pork was a little dry, sausage was a little flavorless. Rice and beans were great. Mofongo was great with the garlic sauce. ALl of this, with drinks (beer) for $40.

Brunch. Bar. Tapas. Featuring an outstanding Porto-American- menu with a touch of European influence in a vintage and cozy atmosphere. The menu is inspired by different cuisine’s specialties and will appeal to a wide and varied clientele.
A group of us have brunch at different places every Sunday. Why we couldn’t have found this gem sooner!!! Everything was wonderful!! Staff is very friendly and quick to put a table together for 10! Several ordered French Toast, chicken & waffles, omelets, and cappuccinos. My French Toast was phenomenal and so was my husband’s omelet! I don’t eat meat and didn’t try the chicken...but from the looks of their plates, I wouldn’t have got the chance! Ekelekua will definitely become a regular brunch stop! This makes our whole month! Thanks so much for sharing this; we look forward to serving you lot again soon =)
