Called in for an evening meal but were disappointed. The food was reasonable, but the ambience non existent. The waitress watched us all the time, very odd.

When you approach a place for the set menu you expect something enough to cover the very adjusted price. In this case was very good the fact they give you a first dish all for sharing, four options, all very well presented and great taste. Then second was bull tail in my case, fantastic. Desert was nicely surprising with that egg custard with pine nuts. Only wine was not the best, I believe even for a set lunch can make a small effort, you can save it in Sparkling soda!!!

This is worth a visit just for the building! The restaurant is in what used to be a hayloft. The original structure remains, with wooden rafters and whitewashed walls, but the decor is contemporary. The menu is what I assume to be traditional Spanish country dishes, well-cooked and served unassumingly by family members. We would never have found this restaurant if we hadn't been told about it by staff at the hotel where we were staying. It's down a side street in a tiny village. We enjoyed our first visit so much, we went back again a couple of days later.

De camino a Portugal, animado por los comentarios de TripAdvisor, paré aquÃ. La mejor decisión que podrÃa haber tomado. Mucha variedad para pedir y todo con una pinta tremenda. Calidad muy alta por el precio. 100% recomendable!!!

Despite there only being two restuarants worth mention in Oropesa, I feel that you could pick it up and plant it in the middle of Paris and Madrid and it would have the same success. I would consider this a better than the Parador in so far as food and wine selection and service. The food is presented like a miniture work of art and the wine list is good and also (contrary to the Parador) well priced. All the waiters are very attent and extremely professional, especially the one I think is called Jorge. On ordering food to share we were suprised at recieving two plates of duck (thinking we had mistakenly ordered two instead of one we enquired) and were informed that the dish had been split in two (and decorated) to keep with the presentation and to make it easier for us to eat, they also did this with the steak tartar. This is something I have only seen done in a Michellin star restuarant. I have been lucky enough to travel a lot and up to now have not been motivated to write until visiting the Hosteria. Thank you to you all.

Had the 32 Euro parador meal which was safe if nothing special. A green veg risotto starter was quite nice, my cod main course could have done with more veg. A tart with ice cream was pleasant if ordinary. Breakfast was quite good though not as wide ranging as you would get at a larger parador.

We unfortunately decided to try and get some food in this bar, after reading favorable reviews on trip advisor, but to be honest they were basically the only place serving food before 9.00 pm. The man who served us was slimy, sleazy and really made me want to scrub both my body and eye balls. He recommended we try this veal casserole dish, I stuck with very very salty chicken, and salad. The casserole was the most disgusting thing one has ever been served since the Middle Ages and in fact I think it was scrapped off the floor of the castle then, kept and served up. We could not recognize anything which vaguely resembled meat, it was a slimy slivering mess looking like skin and goodness knows what else. The taste and smell was as bad as the dish looked, we thought we were going to vomit on the table. Hopefully the chef/cook/janitor threw it were it belonged. Run from this establishment, starving would be preferable.

We highly recommend this incredible restaurant as one of the best meals we had in Spain. Despite us not speaking Spanish, and with help from photos and a translation app, the chef and his colleagues served us a top notch gourmet meal. The suckling pig was extraordinary as was the steak tartare and tuna tataki! A very fun and delicious evening. Thank you chef Daniel!
