A pleasant new restaurant hidden away from the centre of La Granja and off the main road - not easy to find but look behind the Repsol petrol station. This place is in a nicely restored old building as part of a complex of apartments and stables - safe for children. The food is international, though some plates come from southern Spain, the house wine good, and the service very good and very helpful - we felt welcomed. The quality is reasonable to good and the prices are fair.Muchas gracias por el comentario, nos esforzamos por hacer todo lo posible por que nuestros clientes se sientan como en casa. Un cordial saludo

We went for a Sunday lunch to this place after looking at a couple other choices in this small town. It is very nicely decorated, both on the outside and on the inside. They quickly sat our party of 6 which was good as it was quite late already. The staff was very helpful even with our limited Spanish. The negatives were that there is no children's menu and overall, the prices were quite expensive. We had to end up ordering appetizers for the children. The menu was quite limited but the quality of the food was good. We had the suckling pig and were a bit disappointed how small the portions were considing it was 30 euros for 2 people to share. There is a nice little bakery attached to the restaurant which we visited earlier in the morning.

For how calm the place and the pedestrian road in which its located, friendliness of their staff, and certainly, high quality of food, this is a sure win option to have a great and pleasent lunch at La Granja. Do not, I insist, do no miss the Judiones de la Granja with perdiz (patrige) and boletus (a fine kind of mushroom). The gazpacho, meets and salads also great at a fair price.

Fantastic meal with the best service and a great atmosphere. The quality of the product is excellent and it is cooked in modern fashion but that does not mean, as it sometimes happens, that the food is scarce. On the contrary, portions are rather generous and the presentation is just beautiful. The 'Cod canelones' (canelones de bacalao) are delicious, and you can also have a traditional piglet (cochinillo). Definitely a must in La Granja.

During my holiday in La Granja last year, I and a friend visited this restaurant simply because it was listed as No.1 on TripAdvisor - we were disappointed! There are several restaurants in La Granja which are alot better than this one. First, we had to wait a week whilst the staff took their holidays during the peak tourist season! (Sometimes I wonder how interested the management of restaurants are in making business!?!). Second, when we did visit, the restaurant was empty during our one and a half hour stay and we were overwhelmed by the full attention of all the staff, some of whom were obviously new and completely untrained. Three, the food itself was uninspiring, the wine list dreary and the bill excessive! Neither my friend nor I will be returning!Mr. Lamu99, we would like to show our strangeness by receiving your opinion 11 months after your visit to our restaurant, if that were the fact.In order to get things straight, we would like to answer separately to the different points you expose.⢠You visited our restaurant simply because it was listed as No.1 on TripAdvisor This point is entirely false, since in september 2013 we were not listed as No. 1, as Tripadvisor can prove. Maybe there is a misunderstanding with another restaurant, because, as you said, the reason of your visit was the top 1 position in Tripadvisor.⢠There are several restaurants in La Granja which are a lot better than this one We don't question your criteria, but some references of other establishments would be helpful for the users of Tripadvisor that read your observations.⢠First, we had to wait a week whilst the staff took their holidays during the peak tourist season! In twenty years we never had a seven days holiday in September. Our holidays have always been in January plus a week in June. It is true, thought, that we close on Mondays all year long. Also, peak tourist season in Spain is July and August.⢠Second, when we did visit, the restaurant was empty during our one and a half hour stay and we were overwhelmed by the full attention of all the staff, some of whom were obviously new and completely untrained. We are sorry our staff did not fulfill your expectations, but by the time you said you visited our restaurant the newest of our staff had been already working for 18 months. I, as his employer, consider them fully trained and capable in every aspect of their jobs.⢠Three, the food itself was uninspiring... Our menu's core is homemade cooking and traditional meals typical from this area, which has become through the years in the identity of our restaurant. We are sorry you found it uninspiring, though we have over 40 different dishes and 12 desserts.⢠...the wine list dreary... There are 61 different varieties of spanish wines in our wine list, personally selected by a certified sommelier. Wines are stored and conserved in a specially conditioned room where red wines rest at 16°C and white wines at 5°C. We are sorry you found it dreary, since we always considered we have one of the widest wine selections of the area.⢠...and the bill excessive! We do not know your invoice amount neither the content of it, since with the data you provide it is not possible to know. We would also like to expose that there is a full menu at the entrance of the restaurant where prizes are indicated. In order to conclude, we are sorry your visit to our restaurant was not satisfying ( if that ever happened). In case you would have let us known 11 months ago we would have expressed our apologies earlier.Yours sincerely, Jaime Cerrolaza Aragón(Owner and manager of Restaurante Reina XIV)

We went to El Habito because we wanted authentic Spanish food and were reassured when the very good Tripadvisor reviews were in Spanish. We have tried a number of restaurants on this stay and 2 previous visits to La Granja and can honestly say we enjoyed this one best.We were happy to accept the recommendations from Diego, who speaks excellent English. All the dishes (Croquettes, Pork, Beef, Beans, Postres) were very tasty and nothing was left over. House wine was excellent and bill very reasonable. If we come back to La Granja this one is definitely on the list !

Nothing fancy but nevertheless fantastic home made regional food. We were lucky to eat while it was raining as this type of food requires nice siesta afterwards. The starts and main courses were simple but tasty and obviously mastered over the years. The services was efficient and warm. We will definitely visit again.

I had lunch at this restaurant with my family. We ordered the special menu for 20 euros per person. We had dinner at the nice terrace; service was really slow and the place was crowded. The food is typical from Segovia: "cochinillo" roasted pork. It was very well done and tasty.
