Went in for a quick bite, so we had some Raciones...The squid was lovely. The patatas bravas just a plate of under fried potatoes with masses of slightly spicy mayonnaise dolloped on top... Far too much. Chorizo was ok, but massively over seasoned.

Amazing experience ! In this bar/restaurant/shop and with the help of his family ,Marco guides you trough different dishes and wines of Cantabria. The best Serrano ham ,small fried green peppers, morcilla(typical blood sausage) ,local cheeses ,chorizo...All tastes wonderfull.Highly recommended if you are in the region !Muchas gracias de parte de toda la familia de LA TABERNA DE RUFINO en Cantabria, España.

We went to this restaurant on 28 of August 2014. Huevo Trufado appeared to be a liquid egg with topinambur powder on top. Strange concept and not tasty at all. On the second we had a Carrillera Paco - pork cheek with fua gra and a Carne Roha- a steak that was served with sweet hazelnut paste that tasted just like nutella. Fua gra was a bit strange, however both the steak and callillera were good. Happily we were served a wonderful maiz bread, which helped us to cope with the food. Letely we found this bread in the bakery across the road from the restaurant. I would recommend the restaurant chef to focus first on the taste of food avoiding the risky combinations of products.

We saw this place when biking from the Camping Playa Joyel and decided to come back for a family lunch the next day as we hadn't yet had any fish on holiday. We enjoyed a mixed salad followed by the fish selection (minimum 2 people), with some extra chips to appease the kids. The plate of fish was huge and very tasty, although a few of the pieces were a little overcooked. As English people used to paying a fortune for drinking wine in a restaurant, it was lovely to enjoy the house white for under 5 euro. We also enjoyed a selection of puddings. Overall we enjoyed and would recommend. For us as foreigners it felt an authentic Spanish experience!

Celebrated my birthday at the restaurant, which was convenient to our beach apartment. We arrived early for dinner but were greeted and welcomed none the less. Good selection of local foods and service to match. Child friendly although 8,30 opening always takes getting used to with a young British family.

We visited this rural Spanish restaurant for dinner on 19/08/2014 and as myself, wife and kids were the only English diners at this locals restaurant we initially felt somewhat dubious. However we were quickly proven wrong when we sat down at the table and were made to feel very welcome, the staff could see that we were struggling a little with the language barrier with one lady coming across and making a point of translating each item on the menu and describing the dish in English. The food was phenomenal with delicate flavours and an artisan touch, some of the dishes were on the small side but fitted in with the nouveau cuisine served at this place. Normally we enjoy hearty meals with big portions however we felt it was well worth the sacrifice of portion sizes versus high quality and flavoursome food. The experience was capped off with the optional al fresco dining in the walled garden/restaurant terrace (with an outside wall mounted tv screen) at the front of this property. We would definitely return, ique approveche!

Visited Playa de la Arena for a beach day out. Had a look at the menu of Restaurante Campomar (in the Campomar hotel) out of curiosity expecting the beachfront location to command high prices. We were surprised. We booked a paella lunch for 6 people for a couple of hours later at â¬11 a head. They were very helpful in making the reservation and service excellent during meal. We had a Paella de Mariscos which was really tasty, huge amount of seafood in too; mussels, clams, calamari, prawns, crayfish. It came to the table in a huge pan as is the tradition. Quantity plentiful. Pleasant terrace overlooking beach but with shade. Certainly made our day a good one in this location. Not sure what the fish is like, but can recommend on the basis of paella!

Went for dinner and we left very happy. Great food and the service we received was brilliant. Highly recommend listening to the recommendations from the wait staff as we ordered off the menu and we weren't disappointed. Go early or book as they get mad busy and it would be a shame to miss out.
