Best Tacos in town. Today in Guanajuato, tomorrow around the world. Tacos, Tortas, Chuchitas, Burritos, Quesos y Volcanes. Meat, Chicken and Vege.
We stumbled upon this taqueria during a callejoneada, local folk musician alley tour, and instantly knew this place was a winner. It is very small, accommodating only two tables along with two spots for bar chairs. Yet, they produce excellent tacos, tortas, burritos, and chuchitas. Chuchitas are apparently another term for quesadilla and are really the go to at this joint. Although you may first question the diminutive size of each option, the flavor and value will sway your opinion. There are 6+ meat options (costilla, tocineta, arrachera, pastor, and a few vegan options). There are excellent sides on the table that are probably standard for all taquerias, but just like all the other ingredients, seem to always be fresh and of the highest quality. Now, this is a value joint. Each taco was less than $1 (July 17) and each chuchitas was about $1.50. Adjust your ordering accordingly and get at least 3-4 items per person because then you would only spend $10 for an amazing meal. It is not on the Main Street, but it is within the historic district. I implore you to try it out! You will find yourself passing up all the street taco makers and heading back here. It was a pleasure to serve you, we hope to see you soon!

This family-run place is located outside the city centre, in one of Guanajuato's better residential neighbourhoods. It's within walking distance of the Pozuelos shopping mall. The primary style of food is Yucatan. I've had a couple of thier pork main courses. One of them was "rollo de carne salsa de frutas". I've also had their "sopa de haba" (bean soup), which I thought was very good.

Good prices, excellent food, nice environment. Highly recommended. I have eaten several times there and always got surprise for the good food and taste. A good combination between Mexican tradition and gourmet food. Also it has choices for vegans and taste pretty good. Juices are so good! You can talk since music is low. Services are excellent. Waiter is always open to help, nice and explain the content of the food. You got what you ask for. Go there, I'm sure you won't regret and got surprise as I do. I always go there when I go to Guanajuato city. It's just right there close to bus station

I have been there many times over the last months - I am never disappointed by the quality of their burgers and chips. The pub offers a large of meals with quirky names and traditional beverages, from micheladas to artesanal beers. The service is good. A nice stop with delicious quality food and a place where we can talk.thank you so much

Proprietario (owner) - Ricardo Ruiz Beltran. Centro Historico atras del Teatro Juarez (In the Historic center of the city, behind the Juarez theatre).
I ate lunch here with a group of people from the language school I was attending. It was a recommendation from one of the teachers. The place looks like a hole in the wall. If I had just walked by it, I would probably not have gone in. It's a tiny place with just 5 or 6 tables packed into a very small space. It's specialty is seafood and the food is incredible. We asked the server to bring us something to share. He brought shrimp ceviche and empanadas that were so fresh and tasty, they just melted in our mouths. And when the check came, in was below $5 including beverages (soda or juice) for all of us. It's centrally located on a street alongside the Teatro Juarez and well worth a try.

I found this local place to be friendly and clean. Yes, you share tables and stools with other folks, but so what?!The suadero pork sandwich and chorizo tortas were very good.Service was nice and friendly.Go there and be surprised!

I had a lovely meal here. Reviews are very mixed. My hostel owner recommended it and it is always foolish to ignore local knowledge. It is a no frills establishment in a charming building with a tiled floor and stone walls and lots of pictures/other artifacts gracing the walls. For me the reception was lovely - particularly important as I was dining solo. No language barrier. I had guacamole and the poblano mole chicken ie the sweetish chilli chocolate sauce. Service was speedy and the food delicious. Had a glass or two of the Tempranillo too. Dined with locals. Had a very pleasant evening. Cash only.

Oajillo, authentic breakfasts food and more!, we are in the center of Guanajuato city, in Carcamanes 17
The breakfast was absolutely delicious; the huevos rancheros were perfectly spiced, and the beans and bacon were tasty. Great coffee, hand squeezed juice, and the service was impeccable. The owner is also super nice, to boot... If breakfast is this good, I can only imagine how tasty lunch and dinner will be...

In our dishes coexist tradition and contemporary. Our goal is to generate unique flavors, appealing to memory, but also to the extraordinary variety of dishes that make our kitchen.
I, like others below, it seems, was tricked into coming here by glowing TripAdvisor ratings. Trouble is, on closer inspection many of the favourable ratings are rather elderly. Something seems to have gone astray with TripAdvisor's algorithm here - I probably walked past 7 better places to eat on my way here, never mind the rest of Guanajuato.I will say on the positive side to kick things off, that the waiter was fantastic and the service incredibly friendly. The spicy salsa that came with the bread had a kick and was actually the highlight of the meal.My starter was a tapas plate that qas not what I was expecting at all - sort of a grilled cheese sandwich with tapanade, some meat and pesto on top. Not amazing but not unpleasant though. Sadly the accompanying wine was mediocre if I'm being generous. Then, the main course was a total disaster. Somewhat against my better judgement, I ordered steak and prawns which came with a pasta side, and some seasonal vegetables. The pasta turned out to bs lukewarm - I was the only customer here so clearly the only explanation for this is that it was reheated (badly) and not cooked fresh. This is unacceptable. I sent the plate back but had it returned in essentially identical condition a few minutes later. Suffice to say I did not eat the pasta. Meat was cooked OK. The side dish of vegetables was horribly overseasoned and far too salty. The waiter was incredibly apologetic and offered a free dessert or drink but I was done at this point. Instead they took 50% off the price of the main course which was an appreciated gesture but really didn't undo what was not a nice meal in any way, save the service.I went and had dessert elsewhere to cheer myself up. There are lots of great restaurants in Guanajuato, but this isn't one.
