Placed in "El Camino de Santiago", home made cuisine. Beef and fresh fish.
The albergue and it's surroundings look fine at first. There is a reception / restaurant / cafe. The bedrooms are located n another building. You will get a small cubicle with a bed, closet, powerplug and curtain. So privacy wise it's great! It's a bit hot though as there is little ventilation. The shared bathroom was okay, but the shower had no hook you can put your clothes on. It was sealed from top till bottom with a wooden wall. The cafe/restaurant served good food as long as you don't eat the pelgrim menu. For us the pelgrim menu was plenty, but the quality was one of the worst we had on our camino. The Paella rice was not done yet, there were only chicken bones present (no chicken!)The surroundings were messy and a bit run down. Broken chairs, stacked stuff, beer cans everywhere near the sleeping building. All in all, for sleeping it was okay for 1 night, the pelgrim menu was not good. It seemed to me the place was understaffed. The staff helping were very busy and there were a lot of people (also locals).

Me ha encantado el sitio. Comida muy buena, servicio rápido y cordial y un tiramisú casero que vale la pena que tu salgas de tu casa a comer fuera. Para un peregrino del Camino de Santiago es una parada estratégica para recobrar fuerzas.

We restaurant including the hostal is run by the owners family. We had the pilgrims menu, which was slightly higher priced than usually. But what a difference in quality and presentation. We felt the difference between just food and the love satisfying customers. We really enjoyed it and highly recommend it.

We always enjoy calling in for a few drinks, the building is a converted cheese factory. it still sells the famous Boffard cheese and serves well presented meals. Staff are always polite and give good service with a smile. There are also tables outside to enjoy the sun and the view of Fromista's famous Romanic 11th centuary San Martin church. On cooler nights in the autumn they light a wood burning stove.

Was given a leaflet as I walked along the canal into town - so thought let's give it a try. On approach it looked moderately busy considering the number of places I had passed that were empty - no doubt all will be busier later. Pleasant welcome by the waiter. Opted to sit inside. Chose to have the pilgrims menu: three courses for â¬10 including water, bread and a carafe of wine. I do like these quieter towns - Burgos was a rip off by comparison. Had a very nice mixed salad followed by a nice large piece of roast chicken with chips and finished with the inevitable and classic creme caramel. The restaurant was very nice, the waiter helpful and happy to let me try out my limited Spanish. There was no rushing me to finish and I could quietly sit and finish my wine whilst writing this review. As I was finishing a number of people that I had seen wandering around town looking for somewhere to eat started to arrive.

I visited El Chiringuito on 7 April during my last section of the Camino Frances; a great meal with great service. I was most appreciative of being directed to the ribs when I had picked something else. The proprietor was spot on in suggesting them, can't thank him enough. Lovely little place in a great town.Muchisimas gracias por su visita y su comentario. Nos hace muy felices comentarios como el suyo, es de mucha ayuda para nosotros y para nuestro trabajo. Buen camino !!!

Upstairs dining room with traditional feel but an excellent and varied range of dishes. Our server was enthusiastic and knowledgeable and his recommendations were good. We ate vegetable stew (with meat!) and carpaccio tuna to start, then corvino and steak, and two great desserts. Cava and a great (â¬7) glass of red with the steak. A very special meal, a great treat, highly recommended.
