Tapas De Espana

There were eight of us for dinner to celebrate my Aunt Daisy’s 70th Birthday and we were seated immediately. We ordered several tapas and they were all delicious. I had the croquetas de pollo and I’m telling you, I hadn’t had croquetas that good since my trip to Spain. The churrasco was huge, the filet mignon I wine was succulent and enough to share. Honestly everything was very good, and dessert was good too.

Barcelona off of Broadway...a hangout that still encompasses the low key, comfy vibe of the neighborhood but has the chic décor and forward thinking cuisine of a downtown trendsetter." Close your eyes and you think you're in Spain, many Spaniards and loca

This has been here for 12 years because it’s become and institution! Always busy when the French doors our open and the whole place is opened up during warm summer nights. But it’s also cute and cozy in the winter. I try to go here around once a month with my lady! Very nice owners. Get the Cava! It’s also dog friendly when you sit in the sidewalk cafe.

Absolutely the best Cuban restaurant. Fantastic prices and fantastic service. Great for first dates to family birthdays. I go there all the time and have been a customer for years. Don’t have a favorite dish because they are all great.

My mom and I had dinner at Flor de Mayo last night around 7. It was packed. We waited five minutes for a table to become available. The restaurant is full of friends and family, and very lively. We ordered egg roll ($4 for one is expensive), fried plantains, lomo saltado, egg foo yung and special fried rice. All was very good as it always.Added to this, half a carafe of wine for $13 (excellent value). We will definitely be returning.

Calle Ocho

With a charming menu, it seemed so inviting, but I doubt if we will return since the sighting of mice. NYC Health Dept. cites "evidence of mice or live mice present in facility's food and/or non-food areas." Holy Mousetrap! This place also flunked restaurant inspection. No repeat visits for us. Maybe they should get a cat.

We are regulars at Pio Pio on 10th Avenue. This one seems more like a fast-food version. The service was efficient, but the food didn’t seem vibrantly fresh. The sangria was so poor we complained to the management (who didn’t do anything about it).Sadly, we came here with friends because we didn’t want the 10th Avenue branch’s loud music and noise, where we go by ourselves and don’t have to talk. The ambience seemed more fast-food, plain and utilitarian. It’s odd that I would love to take friends to 10th Avenue in the stunning an dramatic décor but can’t stand the noise level, yet I wouldn’t bring them here for a fast- food décor even though the noise level was minimal.
