Samella

The problem is that I probably had too much high expectations. The decour is not "spanish tapas" but more "mexican".... Mexican loud music all night long. Decoration is generalistic, in fact it is the same decoration of the restaurant that was there previously (gourmet burger placed)... Very little changes were made.Gets very loud and very busy really fast and it overwhelms the kitchen. When you go in just pay attention to the plancha station (it is the same type used in a Kebab place) ... Not adequate to serve a restaurant of that size... That is why you end up waiting...Portions are very small and pricey.

The food is delicious and the atmosphere incredible. Each plate was better then the last and the drinks are so good. The entire experience was spectacular. My friends and I had a great time. The waitress was friendly and fun, all her recommendations were amazing.

In Maastricht not all restaurants are expensive. Do not forget that Maastricht is 6 starred Michelin city... I have spend three 3 days and a I have enjoyed dinnig there with a friend. The first: the staff friendly from the 1st second. The deco is a good point, too. There are a terrace with a few wooded tables outside with candles. Inside more tables... 6 or 8 more I think. The atmosphere is cozy, lighted by some candles that invites a romantic dinner or a chat in intimacy. The meal options... From soupe of the day to some meats and fishes that you can paire with side dishes. Special mention the option we chosed. A board of french, italian and spanish cheeses. (18 eur). The ham (spaniah jamon serrano not parma ham) was ok. And the different types of bread really good cooked. For those that are not big drinkers wine by the glass available. The sancerre... You know is white, was really balanced and with good body.Price: 22 eur per person without coffees and desserts. Really a good option.

La Bodega

Went out not having any reservation, looking in town for a place to have dinner. Passing by we saw La Bodega and the menu looked interesting so we gave it a try. Was pretty crowded and could only get a table in the back of the restaurant which is not as privileged as being close to the action near the main area...Had various tapas and a bottle of red wine. More than enough to eat and drink for two, paid 75 E, reasonable for the wine & food we ordered.Looking at the rest of the menu I would call it a bit overpriced for what it offers, despite the fact that indeed various hamons deserve their price. Service was Ok, nothing exceptional but professional and polite. Was our first tapas restaurant in Maastricht so can't compare with any other similar rest in town, but overall I do not think taste wise anybody would be disappointed.
