We hadn't seen our friends since the wedding so met up with them at Karina's. Lively atmosphere, wonderful margaritas and delicious food, you can't go wrong. I started off with a Tamarindo Margarita which hit the spot so I ordered another one. For dinner, I had the Camarones Karina's (sauteed shrimp in a spicy poblano sauce with rice and flour tortillas). All in all, a nice experience but I would caution that parking can be a pain especially when it's a busy night.

The food (adobada tacos) were very good. While they are not on the same level as San Diego/Tijuana legends Tacos Frances or Tacos El Gordo, they were delicious. What was lacking was service as it was bizarre to see one person staffing the bar and restaurant on a Sunday afternoon. The ambiance is that of a typical sports bar; however, the menu was appealing. Hopefully the staffing is worked out as multiple parties were trying to chase down the one employee handling all areas.

Staying at a hotel, I didn't feel like driving all over to find good dinner. Fortunately I lucked out, when just across the 805 I saw the sign for Taqueria Revolucion. This place definitely produces "revolutionary tacos". Besides having a display kitchen behind a large window, 5 cooks dressed in black uniforms, efficiently worked their stations prepping or assembling meals. The adobada (pork) and pollo asado (chicken) made wonderful tasty tacos.

My biggest beef with Pollo Locos is that they hire "English challenged" (I'm Mexican American so please don't assume) employees who never seem to understand the difference between corn and flower tortillas on the intercom. Here they do. That's the key differentiator. Love it here!

Aqui Es Texcoco serves traditional Mexican lamb barbecue, styled after a unique Barbacoa dish served in the Texcoco reign of Mexico. Our Barbacoa, served here in Chula Vista, is the closest to traditional lamb barbecue you'll get in the US! Aqui es Texcoc
This restaurant has authentic food from a particular region of Mexico. The food is delicious. Some non-natives may not be at home with every dish, but anyone can find many familiar tasty items. I only wish more dishes came with rice and beans included.

I love this place. It has some stereotypical things like burritos and tacos but offers many other unique options. I've visited this place 4-5 times and haven't had a bad experience. They introduced me to Cafe de Oyo. Which is the most delicious coffee ever. I could drink it all day. There is a typical wait of 20 minutes unless you go on a Sunday morning. Then expect to wait between 40-60 minutes. Whenever you visit just be awhere that your wait is well worth it. If you want delicious breakfast or lunch and are anywhere near Chula Vista, Ca, you need to go to Telavera Azul.

I've been coming to El Patio since I was a child. My parents have also been coming to El Patio since they were in high school. This is an old school Mexican restaurant. There has been some ownership changes throughout the decades my family has eaten there and the quality and taste of food has fluctuated but whoever owns it now has it back on point. I love this place for breakfast, lunch, and dinner.Their spicy carrots and chips and salsa are fantastic and I have never had a bad meal here. Their specialty sopas on the weekends are the best.Be sure to get anything covered in cheese sauce! I would eat my own flip flop if it was covered in El Patio's cheese sauce!
