Came across this little place at the start of our circular walk in the mountains. Tiny village with some serious history and local inhabitants keen to say hello and chat. Ate a long late lunch on the terrace of this lovely cafe restaurant, great fabada and mixed salad, stunning views, friendly owner & locals.Well worth a visit.

Over the course of a week I visited twice for food and each time was blown away. On my first visit we had navajas (razor clams), croquetas, followed by my first experience of cachopo. Cachopo is the dish EVERYONE visiting Asturias needs to try. A thin fillet steak with cheese and jamon on top, then another steak, dipped in egg and breadcrumbs and fried, served with a blue cheese sauce made with the local cabrales. The second visit we had a plate of cecina (cured beef) with some queso de cabra (goats cheese) on top as our starter. For our main we had the amazing, breathtaking, arroz caldoso con marisco, which translates as soupy/brothy rice with seafood. This dish blows paella out of the water. It is a similar to paella and a risotto, filled with the finest fruits of the sea; clams, prawns, mussels, and lobster. A delight for the tastebuds.

I have visited five different counties in Spain and so far can easily say that the patatas bravas at Chicote are the best in the country. No one (that I have experienced) make them in the same way. Obviously there are slight variations on the dish across the land but Anton stands heads above them all. Not only is his spicy potatoes phenomnial but a bargain and a small bowl is given as the tapas with some bread. Another dish worth getting is the cena, a plate of various meats and cheese, patatas bravas, bread, and some wine (local homemade). Great traditional bar with a great owner/host. Friendly atmosphere. Definitely worth a visit!

This Parador occupies most of what was once a Benedictine monastery and later a Dominican Friary.Although the Dominicans still reside in a small and separate section, most of the hugely impressive building has been converted in a most splendid hotel and restaurant. It's exceedingly beautiful and exquisitely kept and furnished in a most elegant manner. In a sense it's a palace of greatly distinguished features. The rooms are full of amenities and truly resemble palatial suites. The restaurant serves delicate and fine dishes and the great news is that this Parador charges very reasonable prices. The small town of Cangas del Narcea is a quaint place to visit.I think that the prices here are possibly 1/3 what you would expect in such an outstanding place.

You can't go wrong with Blanco, doesn't matter you visit this place at lunch time for the old style food or at dinner for something a bit more sophisticated: dishes are always perfectly executed. In addition, the barman prepares the best cocktails you can imagine, just tell him what flavours you like and let him surprises you. Don't get fooled with the old style decorations, it's just part of its charm.

This is simply a superb Spanish restaurant (and tapas bar) - I give this place a five stars bcse of the quality of food and service, the location is however nothing special but can one get any better in Cangas ? The restaurant offers a simple limited menu of extraordinary refined quality with great wine choices (but that is of course not of their making.....)

Sidreria Narcea, the cider restaurant was a great start to our tour of Northern Spain. The local cider is enjoyed by adding air before drinking. If you sit outside the waiters pour the cider from a great height, but inside they fit a Soda-stream type of attachment to the bottle, which gives the cider a sparkle or fizz.We chose four items from the menu and shared. Bean soup, which came with a plate of blood sausage, a lump of fat, thick ham and a piece of gristly boney spiced meat. Croquettes of cheese and ham, which came in an egg tray dish. Calamari a la roman, squid rings in batter. La piedra, meat cooked on hot stones. This was served on a hot plate beneath which was a flame around a hot stone. There was lamb, pork and beef, all rare and you could allow it to cook further. We were provided with a sharp knife which made this very easy. We also had chips and peppers. The waiter did not seem fazed that the hot stone heater had melted the table cloth! This was a very enjoyable meal with good service.Dear client,Thank you for sharing the experience of staying in our SidrerÃa. We will inform our staff about all your comments and opinions. We hope to see you soon.Thank you very much
