Border Cafe

I had heard about Border Cafe and we finally went for my daughter’s birthday. She and her husband bragged about Jose’s Rice. I was expecting something very unique. I didn’t think it was that special, really, and I wouldn’t order it again. However, the food was hot and reliable. I ordered enchiladas and they were your typical fare. There were also different menu items such as Crawfish Etouffee. It was the first time I had tried them, as I was always turned off. They were quite good. I don’t think you’d go wrong here. I’d like to go back soon because I loved the atmosphere and the staff. Both added to the relaxed, fun feeling we had on our last visit.

Santa Fe Mexican Grill

The chips and salsa were excellent and come free to the table. The Burrito was quite dry. The chimichanga was on the small side, but it did come with rice and beans. The Sangria tasted like punch, not at all authentic. The margaritas were standard. The atmosphere and service was great! It was move in weekend for UDel . We sat outside, which I wouldn't suggest on busy nights. The noise from the cars and lots of motorcycles was so loud we couldn't hear each other. I think the outside tables on less busy nights would probably be fine. Our waitress was a student and incredible professional and knowledgeable about the menu and area. Our drinks, apps and entrees came nicely spaced and timely. Prices were moderate. I think it might be best for drinks, chips and salsa.

El Diablo

I was so excited to have El Diablo in Newark as I don't often travel up to Trolley Square. I love the fact that the food is fresh, made to order, and the service is quick. The only thing that could improve the experience was if you could call in an order. I love their southwest chicken salad and their Lime steak salad. I also like their tacos with all the different selections. It is nice that they are so near.
