Stopped in on our way through town on a Sunday afternoon thinking we would beat the church crowd. We were wrong because apparently this place is extremely popular with the locals because before 11:00 there already was standing line waiting to get seated. The tamales with Tijuana sauce were excellent.

After arriving in Lufkin,Texas, we were craving some Mexican and after reading the reviews we thought we would check it out. The restaurant was clean, the front staff were cleaning menus so thumbs up, our server was very good and the margaritas(which were no charge for some reason) were delicious!! My husband loved the salsa that came complementary before the meal but thats about where it ends. Our meals were ok and not the most flavourful. We were both shocked at how salty everything was. Like they could have added half the salt and it would have been better so have to just say this was an average meal but very affordable so we don't feel like we spent a fortune on salt.

Hard to find - a hidden jewel that you have to look for on 1st street. Good parking. When we entered, we were immediately greeted by our server, Hector. I asked Hector what he recommended, and he recommended something that I ordered. The food was great. Attentive service. Wonderful food. Wonderful salsa! Very clean. A place that I want to go back to and try other things on the menu.

Restaurant was recommended by hotel staff and noted as very popular with the locals and always busy.It was busy but certainly not crowded on a Wednesday evening around 7:00.The server was very helpful and concerned about my satisfaction. I appreciated his efforts....The food was unimpressive. Chips were sturdy and good for dipping; neither the green nor red sauce inspired me to dip. Red sauce was thinking and bland; green sauce was weird.....it was so green I thought it belonged in an Irish bar - it didn't taste like any green sauce I have had before. The beef fajita flauta had nicely flavored meat; the cheese sauce was mild with a slight jalapeno undertone. Too bad I don't like jalapenos. The spinach enchilada was a huge disappointment - I expected fresh spinach, but that stuff came out of a can - ugh!!!Perhaps a different menu choice on my part would have been better, but I won't be trying again. The restaurant atmosphere was pleasant and the prices very reasonable.

We visited here with family for one of my first trips out in a while. The lighting here is dim which makes seeing the food difficult. I guess for good reason as the chicken fried steak was burned. There was sufficient quantity of food but I was really disappointed in the quality. It will be awhile before I return.
