The food was good and the price was reasonable, but the Fajitas were delivered without tortillas. Once we could contact the server again it still took almost six minutes before we got them. So not really a perfect meal.Thank you for sharing. We appreciate you taking the time to provide feedback. We hope to see you again soon!

I have been a guest at Mi Ranchito twice and enjoy the food and service very much. The wait staff are personable and quick to please without being overbearing. They keep the chips and salsa full on the table and ensure your beverages are also full at all times. This is not fast food so you do have a little bit of a wait, but that is fine with me. The food has always been served hot and that is the way I like my food brought to me!

We have been going to this restaurant since it opened well more than a decade ago. It offers a sampling of dishes from across Latin America, and is quite a unique offering in the midst of texmex wasteland. The owners are much to be congratulated for creating such a unique place. We tried the fish tacos and the Brazilian bean stew called feijoada. Also the churros. All three were spot-on excellent. That is, the tastes were accurate and ideal, and everything was fresh and tasty. We were disappointed, by a few details. For example, the feijoada should come accompanied by a ground meal called farofa. It was listed on the menu, but we had to ask the waitress about it twice, and in the end she told us that one of the cooks had probably thrown it out. The churros were listed is coming with a chocolate sauce, which we have had before and like quite a bit, but that also was missing. We did not ask about it. Although the service was generally good, it was not efficient or effective at 100%⦠So, while we admire this restaurant quite a bit for many of its dimensions, it has some spotty dimensions, which could easily be fixed by some more close attention from the management. In sum, and in spite of the gaps, this restaurant is excellent, and offers a menu that many in the central United States will find completely unique. Bravo.

This is the perfect place to eat amazing chips and salsa, mouth-watering street tacos, and enjoy a Kansas basketball game. The service is so very friendly, the atmosphere is family-friendly, and screens are well-positioned, and decor is cleverly unique. This is my go-to Mexican restaurant in Lawrence!

This place ostensibly serves a California style of tacos. Really, they are very uneven, but there are certain things that simply are no style of tacos. That is to say, the filling was OK⦠The brisket filling with roasted corn was actually quite good. But you put the filling in a stone cold tortilla, and it tastes horrible. Indeed, in three out of six such tacos, the tortilla broke upon first contact of oneâs hand⦠The chicken nachos were OK, but the cheese nachos were nothing short of repulsive. The cheeseburger quesadilla was OK. So, one thing is California style tacos⦠A very different thing is serving offensively badly prepared tacos, to the point where you do not even heat up the tortilla. What more can I say?

I had lunch with a friend who lives in the area and El Potro is one of his favorite restaurants. He seemed to know most of the staff. They immediately brought out the usual complimentary chips and salsa. The salsa was quite mild but I made good use of the bottle of Cholula hot sauce at our table. I try to eat healthy and there were some good options; I chose the California Burrito, which was vegetarian but did include a white sauce containing cheese. There was a choice of 3 types of beans: I chose black beans rather than refritos. The menu, even for lunch, was extensive. This was a weekday and I arrived early for our 11:30 meeting; my friend was about 10 minutes late and I noticed a large influx of people at 11:30 but the wait time for our food was very reasonable. We lingered quite awhile after we'd finished our food without any pressure to leave; our check was presented with little delay when we requested it.Good choice for lunch.
