Chilies is typical chilies fair. I have yet to figure what ask for when ordering a steak. Today I asked for medium and it came medium rare, agggh. My wife's ribs were dry but tasty. I did point out that today's salsa was watery and usually Chilies' salsa is of decent consistency, with a mild taste.
The have the best chicken and ribs cooked on a big outdoor barbecue! Generous portions for a fair price. My Husband had the ribs which was great and I had the chicken, also great. Nice clean tables outdoors, picnic style. Definitely recommend you try this place!

Every time I drive through Espanola, New Mexico, I try to visit this old fashioned drive in eatery. It is run by a wonderful family who always welcome me warmly. The menu is straight out of northern New Mexico and thereâs everything youâd expect: Tacos, burritos, enchiladas and their signature Stop and Eat burger. My favorite, and it is only $5, is the enchilada plate. With two rolled enchiladas chock full of cheese, a meat sauce with homemade red or green chile and covered by a salad of lettuce and tomatoes, what could go wrong? Well, nothing actually. It really is excellent. And you know you are in the right place when the locals are always there gossiping about the goings on in town. Stop and Eat is a step back in time to a place that is pure New Mexico. Enjoy when you are driving through to Santa Fe or Albuquerque.

It's been a couple of weeks since we've been here. Wife had her usual huevos rancheros w/ chicharons and I tried the carnitas. All was good, service was a little hit-n-miss a d portions were okay. Their salsa was a little weak, not too hot, but not with out taste. Lately I'm beginning to think Pace is my standard.

JoAnn's Ranch doesn't look like a Mexican restaurant. It looks like some sort of fast-food place that failed and was then converted into a mom-and-pop place. That's probably what it is but the food's Mexican (with other stuff on the menu) and it's very, very good. We stopped here on the way back from Taos. It was a spur of the moment decision. I love hole-in-the-wall restaurants of any kind and JoAnn's had the look. All four of us were happy. Three of us had Mexican food. One had the BBQ ribs. We all left full and happy. What more could you ask?

We have been here twice, and find the food, especially the lamb dishes that they have in abundance, quite good. However the service is slow and disorganized.

Stopped off on our travels and ordered a burrito and tamale each. They were all enjoyable, good quality for fast food, no complaints

At La Cocina, our dishes use Native New Mexican ingredients and spices. Proudly serving Northern New Mexico for 46 years!
I have been going to La Cocina for years - generally for breakfast but also for lunch and dinner. The Huevos Los Arcos - traditional American breakfast smothered with the best red chile in the area and served with outstanding breakfast meats especially their thick sliced ham steak. Also can add the traditional red chile marinated carne adovada by ordering the Huevos La Cocina or light fluffy pancakes by ordering Javier's Breakfast. Specialty Blue Corn Pancakes with Piñon nuts can be ordered. Do not miss the traditional New Mexican favorite, Atole, which is a blue corn porridge. Lunch features cup to large bowls of traditional southwestern soups such as Arroz con Pollo - chicken with rice, Posole - pork with hominy, and an outstanding Green Chile Stew. Dinner is represented by a large menu of Southwestern, American, and Lite entres. The atmosphere is quite pleasant. The service is prompt and friendly. Despite this restaurant's stylish presentation, its prices are typical for area. Beer and wine are available.
