Reviews on South American food in Trujillo, La Libertad Region, Peru. Trujillo is a lively intersection of ancient culture and modern arts. See ancient ruins at the Chan Chan archaeological site and be awed by the Moche Huaca del Sol y la Luna (temples of the sun and moon.). The multicolored Tunnel of Wishes on the Paseo de Aguas is a fabulous place for people-watching. Locally brewed corn beer is worth a try. If you’re a nightlife lover, pace yourself—bars and clubs get going late, and then go all night.

We wanted to try some Peruvian-Japanese fusion food and came here on the recommendation of the other Tripadvisor reviews. The menu is quite extensive, and they offer specialty maki (done Peruvian style), traditional Japanese maki, salads and other hot cooked food.We ordered their maki specialties over the traditional Japanese maki, and the food took almost 45 mins to arrive during our Sunday lunch. It appeared that we were the only tourists in the restaurant, and the other tables were full of locals. We however saw that the food generally took a long time to be served even for those tables that were seated before us.The maki came loaded with lots of sauce, perhaps too much for our liking as it completely overwhelmed the taste of the ingredients. This may however simply be the way the Peruvians like it, and while it was interesting to try their take on Japanese cuisine, we didn't think it tasted that great overall. We ordered 4 different types of maki (comprising 5 pieces each) and this was sufficient for the two of us as they were quite heavy handed with the sauces. There was no English menu, and the service staff didn't seem to speak much English but we managed to use Google translate to understand the menu.

We stopped here on our way back from Huca de la Luna. The owners and their two children were so welcoming and friendly to us tourists, which can be a little hard to find in Peru, especially since only one person in our party spoke spanish. They invited into the kitchen to watch how they prepare the meals - their kitchen was beautiful and was spotless, something else that you can't always find in Peru. They were willing and able to prepare a vegetarian dish for me (since I'm vegetarian), which can also be challenging to find in Peru. My favorite was the Marracuya (passion fruit) juice- the owners brought us refills as we couldn't get enough! The food was so full of flavor and truly felt like it was made with love. There were hammocks outside to relax on or take a siesta before or after the meal. We definitely took advantage of this.

This restaurant is not fancy but the food is delicious. The owner specialty is Peruvian Creole Cuisine. The price is incredible for the quality of food.
this place has everything in a restaurant. Good food, reasonably priced and friendly service. it is only 15 minutes drive from downtown trujillo.if you are looking for something more traditional this is the place to go.

This is a place we go regularly as a family when in Trujillo - huge portions of quite good food, very reasonably priced, friendly efficient service. Favorites - ceviche, corvina con ajo, and ajiaco de cuy. Our only objection tends to be the volume - there's not a soft surface in the place and between the din of a zillion customers (the place is big), and generally a live band playing, it can get overbearingly loud.

I went to La Piadina with my family, because the place looked really nice and we heard from locals that the food is really good, and I must say it really is! We tried the Pizza Pera and Pizza Lomo Saltado (the best pizzas in our life). My wife also ordered the Magret de Pato (duck breast with an amazing home made papardelle pasta with rocoto salsa). For desserts we chose Crocantino de Almendra and Creme brulee which were delicious as well. If you want to go to La Piadina don't forget to try the Sangria, much better than in Europe! Very nice place, great design, good music, service, and amazing food!! You do not need anything more to spend beautiful evening.

If you are a one time tourist, I highly recommend getting the Fantasia combo plate which includes 4 kinds of preparations: cerviche, fried, butter poached?, and with rice. All 4 were so good. Lots of fish and shellfish along with squid or octopus. I'd recommend starting with the cerviche before the fish is over cooked in the acidity followed quickly with the fried seafood while it is still hot and crunchy. Must go for anyone visiting Trujillo.

From reading the other reviews of this place, it sounds like we ordered badly, we just had two sandwiches as they were such good value which were alright but not amazing, still not bad considering the prices and service was good. The place was busy with locals so there was a nice atmosphere.

Paprika is a new and different way of seeing Peruvian cuisine, with a Global vision and national identity. Paprika is tasteful and spicy as our food is, but at the same time is refined and elegant.
We are staying at the hotel and decided to have lunch here. The food is delicious. However service is mediocre. We have to call constantly to get attended and the waiters work as if they didn't want to. Sadly they have plenty of waiters I don't know what they are doing all the time. Some of are nice but the whole restaurant is badly managed. They need leadership.Estimate Franco BThank you very much for your comments, we had identified the problem you mentioned and have been working on that.Today i'm confident to say that our service matches the quality of the food we serve.I hope you can visit us again soon to experience the changes we've made.Kind regards,
