Discover Restaurants offering the best South American food in San Jose, Province of San Jose, Costa Rica. Vibrant and packed with Victorian mansions, Costa Rica's rowdy, bustling capital was built on the profits of the coffee trade and working "golden bean" plantations still surround the city. Usually viewed as a hub, rather than a destination, nightlife is concentrated in Spanish village-inspired El Pueblo. Don't miss the elegant 1897 National Theater.

As this is my first big trip since becoming vegan, naturally I get a little concerned at how difficult it may be to find something both without animal products, but also tasty. El Jardin is fantastic for both. When I arrived, having been starved by Air Canada all the way from Toronto, my eyes lit up when I saw the little restaurant tucked inside Hotel Rimcon. I had the veggie wrap for lunch which was great. All fresh ingredients, delicious and we'll presented. In the evening I went back with a group of friends and we all had a traditional Costa Rican dish, with the option of meat, fish, or veggie. I had rice, black beans, avocado, salad, plantain and nachos, and it was perfect. Filling, fresh, and vegan - a winning combination! And at only 5000 colon, even better! Would recommend to everyone, the meat dishes looked good too. But for my vegan friends, you can rely on El Jardin, for sure. Staff are all very polite and accommodating. Here's to hoping the next month of restaurants are just as fabulous!

Great visuals very nice people mediocre flavor. Where ever I travel eating at vegan restaurants Iâve had better. The meat is not firm as burgers usually are with every bite it fell apart. I ordered the classic burger + the philly cheese which comes on a circular bun...desserts are decent! Love + Light

In Rohrmoser, where there are few dining choices, this is a little gem. Modestly priced house wines and good value wines by the bottle are one of the pluses of Tierra Sur. I've had the sweetbreads, which where very good, the filet mignon with pepper sauce, which was perfectly cooked and excellent. The waitresses are very nice, charming, and attentive. Prices, compared with other a argentine restaurants in San Jose, are much more reasonable. They have a pleasant enclosed patio outside which is just great. Note that they area closeD on Saturdays.

A small coffee shop with a nice eclectic decoration... in the middle of the city. A different option for the traveler who's looking for a quiet place with people, music, good drinks and tasty food. Serving tapas, pizza, beer, wine and sangria.
Kind of tucked away but worth finding. Many good items on the menu and try the sangria. The chicken burger was delicious and made to order and the staff was exceptional.

We ate here as part of a tour luncheon and the food was excellent and they did a great job serving us. The guacamole they served first was terrific and the roasted vegetables and sliders were both excellent. And we loved the atmosphere!

We were treated to an incredible, one-of-a-kind dinner by the owner of the place! He explained the mode of preparation for the sausages that are the focus of this fancy fast food joint -- very simple, hand- and home-made -- and suggested specific wine pairings for each one. I usually don't eat processed meat, but broke my rule here and ate two: the chef's selection, and a second spicy offering. The chef's selection came with a medium-bodied Chilean Malbec and the spicy with Pinotage, and both pairings were perfect. As we ate, we took in the decor, crafted by an award-winning architectural team. I have definitely never had such an incredible combination of food, ambience, and service. 6/5.WOW! Thanks for your comments... but the most, for enjoing the Bò_Xperience! Cheers!

Argentina restaurant and grill with good taste and Argentine style.
We so enjoyed our meal on our first night in Costa Rica that we returned when we were back in San Jose. The rump steak was excellent - really flavorful - and prices were reasonable. There were a variety of size steaks which is perfect if you don't have a huge appetite. The service was fast and friendly.
