Find out what South American restaurants to try in Puno. Llamas, sheep and alpacas roam the plains of Puno, a port city in southeastern Peru. Their fleeces are used to make the area’s signature textiles, which make excellent souvenirs. You’ll do a lot of walking here, as many of the streets are too steep for cars. But the climbs are worth it for the excellent views of Lake Titicaca. Take a boat to the Floating Islands or get up close and personal with the four-legged locals at a llama farm.

Great breakfast buffet. They were confused in the evening when we inquired about dinner they said only the special was available. They misunderstood or misanswered and the full menu would have been available. This resulted in our whole tour group getting in cabs and going downtown except one couple. They said dinner was extraordinary and asked why we all left. Clarify with front desk in you own language what is exactly available and stay for dinner.Dear Guest:Thank you for your comment we are sure that help us for the improvement of the services in our restaurant we really apologized for the incident. We hope that you can come back any time.Best Regards,Federico Moore LigardaManager Sonesta Posadas del Inca Lago Titicaca Puno

The Catedral restaurant is very close to the hotel we were staying at (Royal Inn), right at Plaza de Armas. We stopped here for dinner, It happened to be New Year's Day, so we were lucky to find a place open for business. Service was a little slow at the start, even though there were few customers. The waiter did not speak English, but the menu is in both Spanish and English. They offer a nice value meal consisting of a soup or appetizer, a main entree, and a beverage. I ordered the chicken soup, spaghetti with pesto sauce, and anise tea. Everything was very good, even though I'm not a big fan of herbal teas (I just wanted to try the anise tea).

A gentleman in the street invited us a free Pisco Sour if we enter to this restaurant. We agreed and had a very nice surprise. The restaurant's decoration is modest and cosy. You can have typical dishes or some of the Chef specialties, like the beef with a red wine sauce that I chose and was delicious. The price is fare for the food and service.

beside the Casona on main pedestrian street
You are urged inside by the hosts, seated, menus provided, order taken... Not much in personal interaction, and once served mostly no further contact. Vern had the pork chop dinner with potatoes and steamed veggies. I ordered the cream of corn soup. The soup was quite without seasoning or taste. It took several requests to obtain our check. Ho-hum

Hands down this is THE best meal Iâve had in South America. not only was the service provided by Rafael top notch the food was literally to die for. I started with the BBQ wings which were a little small being American it it didnât change the fact that they were soooo good. I had the chicken teriyaki with white rice and WOW! I am a happy camper. Not only was the presentation beautiful but the flavor was out of this world. I can day enough good about the food or the service. Top notch. I was disappointed with service in South America but these guys have given me hope. Oh and the beer is THE best Iâve seen on holiday. i has a Chimay, Delerium Christmas and a Duvel! 3 of the best Belgian beers. I would have had golden draak but they were out. Honestly I have only good things to say about this place. Being a server/bartender myself I was pleasently surprised to receive the service I did today! Kudos to the owner. Iâll be back for dinner tomorrow before i head to Cusco! If youâre reading this I highly recommend you give this place a go! The best food, beer and service of my 3 weeks abroad so far! Thanks again Rafael!
