I visited this restaurant with my boyfriend and a friend. We asked for a burger, some âpinchosâ/skewers and a fish filet. The burger: I asked for mid rare and it came over cooked. The taste wasnât great overall, the guacamole it had didnât taste like anything. The fish filet: It was average, the smashed potatoes it came with were not that good. My friend said he could make them better. The skewers: they came with a peanut sauce that had soft peanuts, not crunchy. The menu said it included jumbo shrimps and they were not that size.The drinks: The mango drink I asked for tasted like water. Nothing like mango. The strawberry drink my friend said it was good but tasted very fake. My boyfriend asked for a Coke Cola Zero. I personally feel I payed way too much for the food I got. It was a disappointing experience. We stumbled into this restaurant by chance and the Peruvian-Chinese mix sounded interesting. We were greeted with a lot of enthusiasm by one of the waiters and then again by the manager. It was done in way they think U.S. visitors must appreciate, but for my taste way too much. I appreciate a little attentation, however the waiter's fake grin and constant interventions were rather annoying. I really liked the good vegetarian choice on the menu. The food was quite okay, a bit pricey though, however nothing special. The thing that saves this review was the Pisco Sour which was really good.

Took a train ride out of San Jose and found this little gem. Food was delicious, lots of choice with plenty of vegan and vegetarian options too. The fresh juices were lovely, friendly staff and great for kids too. They also have a tip jar that goes towards giving local homeless or poor folk something to eat.

We enjoyed our lunch and smoothies at the Rio Lounge after visiting the waterfall. It is located in a nice setting and the food is good with nice service. The prices aren't inexpensive but it was comparable to other restaurants in the area. Since we didn't have a car and would have paid more for a taxi ride into La Fortuna, it definitely made sense for us to enjoy a late lunch here before heading back to our hotel.

We called in here on the way back to our hotel from a hot mornings walking. We didnât speak Spanish and the staf didnât speak English but they were lovely and we got there in the end. Reasonable prices for a touristy area, superb views. I ordered a burger, something I donât usually eat (I had already had rice for breakfast), and it was clearly home made and a very tasty meal. Wished we were in the area for longer as we would have returned. It isnât flashy just friendly with good freshly cooked food.

We traveled in a group of 6 and rented a home in El Castillo for 3 days. Essence was a 10 minute walk away. This is a vegetarian restaurant with the dinner menu different every night. They use vegetables from their own farm. We came for lunch and had delicious pasta, sandwiches, salads and crepes. The food was so good, we had to come back for dinner. That night, we were served Peruvian food. Everything here is perfect: you can see the chef cooking, the staff is so friendly (as is everyone else in El Castillo), the portions/price are perfect. I highly recommend making it in as you will not be dissapointed!

If you are going to Sky Adventures this is your only option for a meal. The room is bright and clean with good views down the mountain. The service is good. The food is decent but more expensive than you'd pay elsewhere for better. But that's what we expected.

We stayed at Rancho Margot in January this year. What an amazing, almost entirely self-sustaining place. Our meals were almost entirely home grown. Nature and an ecological balance is not a theme, but its "reality". If you want a complete, true getaway from everyday stresses and trappings... a few days at Rancho Margot... at least for me, was cleansing to my soul and re-centered my core.

My fiancé and I visited Balazo and LOVED the fresh seafood and drinks! The fish is so fresh and we had a great time meeting new people. They have karaoke that many enjoyed and it was great entertainment for us!!! They are the only place that stays open after 10 pm in El Castillo. Give them a try if you are in the area!
