Things to do in Cotacachi
Muy buen restaurante de comida rapida, excelente atencion y productos de calidad. Un ambiente super acogedor, deportivo, se puede pasar un rato ameno con amigos, ver deportes en vivo en una pantalla HD y disfrutar de buena comida
Just in front of the ex-pat hangout Solid Rock (and sharing a bano with it), is the new hideaway that serves real Ecuadorian food. Great service, great prices, great food. A shared chicken sandwich, a glass of whine and two desserts came to $9.50. Sit outside in the shade or sun for lunch; enjoy watching the street go by from this quiet corner.
Café Catimor is the ideal place where you can be accompanied by your friends, family or couple and enjoy our variety of coffees, desserts among many other things. Come visit us, we will be waiting for you
El lugar es excelente para pasar con amigos. Muy acogedor y buen ambiente. Esta vez probé "El Tortiñon", muy sabroso y muy buena opción para quien le gusta degustar nuevos platos.
Can you imagine getting a really good dinner, with the best carne colorado ever and a drink, for $2.02? Plus tip, of course. There was no menu, as there's only one dish. there was no advertising, as the line to get into this restaurant every Saturday night stretches down the block. There was no parking, as the streets were lined with wannabee customers' cars; so you had better walk (which in Cotacachi is no problem).Las Ricas Tortillas has the reputation of serving the best carne colorado anywhere, using a special method of slicing the pork meat thin and letting it absorb the best of the achiote spicing for quite a while before the final cooking. Served with rice, a fried egg, veggies and the delightful potato "tortillas"--more like a potato cake--this meal will satisfy pretty well any appetite. Sodas and beer are available to whet your whistle. The plates may be plastic but the food is pure gold. Delicious! The chef is a lady I didn't meet, since she was probably up to her eyeballs in managing the kitchen of this old house, which has been converted to dining space for just Saturday nights. Sundays, La Jefa serves at the Andes Market, and then nothing happens until the next Saturday. I can't guarantee the prices, of course, but you may sure this bit of fine dining won't break the bank, nor will you be hungry afterwards.

This is a wonderful place for almuerzo - just $2.50 for really good food. Every time the food and juices were fresh and delicious. Beautiful courtyard. The staff is very friendly and tries to accommodate your requests, but there us a standard almuerzo. Highly recommended.

Sub's Station is a cozy little restaurant in Cotacachi that offers a variety of US-Style food and also some specialties created by our chef himself. We serve breakfast from 8.30 am to 11.30am. Fridays is Fish&Chips day, reservations are highly recommended
Nice addition to Cotacachi. My husband had the Italian Sub and I had the tuna with spinach both were good. The only downside was the chocolate milk shake which was delicious but contained small pieces of splintered wood. I showed the splinters to the waitress and she explained that they use an ice cream bar on a stick to make the milk shake and cutting the ice cream bar is how the wood got into the shake. Ok I know things like this can happen but disappointed in the response. I guess she was embarrassed. But the potential for swallowing small pieces of splinted wood could be serious. Hopefully they will be careful and change their preparation procedure. Needless to say I will not have a milk shake there again.

A quaint European-style Cqfé/Bistro with a selection of homemade food. Several choices of fresh sandwiches, ice cream, and local specialties. Café Lafayette offers new menu items every week featuring various local and European speciality items. They offer
When we stumbled upon this place, the young waitress seemed a bit unhappy. We had been given long stemmed roses by some ladies in Cotacachi because it was the "Day of Smiles" so we gave one to this young lady who seemed unhappy. Her attitude changed immediately and she began smiling as well. The owner came out and treated us great as well. The salads were wonderful, and on a warm day, they were perfect. The wine is from a bottle (rare in Ecuador in smaller restaurants) and not a box. Free wifi.

Our driver guided us to La Marquesa for lunch on our day trip to Cotacachi. The restaurant is reasonably priced, but the food was pretty up and down. The locro (potato soup) and steak were both good, but the trout and cuy weren't. The trout was advertised as a filet, but was actually a whole fish breaded and fried! The cuy was also deep fried, and I would recommend roast cuy for a first-timer. The place can also be a bit loud. Overall, this is a decent stop, but we liked the restaurants in Otavalo a lot more.

We got perfect harmony of flavors on national and international cuisine, Tradition is our signature.
I debated between 3 or 4 stars as one meal was great (chicken and mushroom) and the other was not (grilled beef loin). I opted for potatoes instead of fries and they were not cooked (although fries were excellent). The veggies were cold. The waitress was very friendly though.
