Daughter no 1 had this place scoped out prior and we made a reservation late in the afternoon prior. Fridheimar is popular (read tour buses) and expensive. Having said that, it is a unique experience and the full bar does help! Tomato soup, bread and a few sides to choice from makes up the menu. Reservations are required but we had to wait 30 minutes plus for our table. Pls see the bar comment above. ;-)

The Geysir Center is just another large gift shop but interesting none the less. Prices are kinda high so we passed on souvenirs. There were some eats but not cheap.
A Visitor Center in THjórsárstofa Ãrnes. A beautiful restaurant within the visitor center, offering warm and welcoming atmosphere, Icelandic home cooked food, home baked bread, soups, salads, cakes and drinks. Our pride is quality food, beautifully served
Thjorsardalur is a great area for tourists to visit in Iceland. There are 2 interesting waterfalls, lovely scenery, a woodland, areas of historic interest and also a good example of ecologically friendly electricity production with an exhibition for the general public. So a trip to this area is more interesting with the Ãrnes Visitor Center that now has a simple but friendly and helpful restaurant. So visitors can get coffee and cakes and straightforward traditional Icelandic meals at reasonable prices
