Nova Gorica (pronounced [ˈnɔ̀ːʋa ɡɔˈɾìːtsa] ( listen); population: 13,852 (town); 21,082 (incl. suburbs); 31,000 (municipality)) is a town and a municipality in western Slovenia, on the border with Italy. Nova Gorica is a planned town, built according to the principles of modernist architecture after 1947, when the Paris Peace Treaty established a new border between Yugoslavia and Italy, leaving nearby Gorizia outside the borders of Yugoslavia and thus cutting off the Soča Valley, the Vipava Valley, the Gorizia Hills and the northwestern Karst Plateau from their traditional regional urban centre. Since 1948, Nova Gorica has replaced Gorizia as the principal urban centre of the Goriška or Gorizia region, as the northern part of the Slovenian Littoral has been traditionally called.

This restaurant may technically be in Italy, but its menu has clear influences from nearby Austria and Slovenia. The interior is full of fun decorations and the staff wear Austrian dirndl outfits. Lovely atmosphere and good quality food. The free glass of Grappa at the end was a nice gesture.

This is authentic and old fashioned restaurant in Gorizia town centre.Food is nice and fresh and the staff extremely friendly and polite.Don't think they've changed the prices since the eighties...probably just converted from the old lira to euros!It's a place you shouldn't miss if you're in the area

Sometimes I had good food here. But the last time I was there the food was really terrible. I had to ask the waiter for another meal. This was OK, but far from very good. The service was very good. Ambient is OK too.

The exterior of the restaurant is fairly plain, the environment is more beautiful. But it's no wonder that this restaurant is located under Sv. Gora, which is a very famous monastery, since feeding at this restaurant is a spiritual experience. The food is extremely tasty, thoughtfully prepared and beautifully served. Their special dishes with chicory, which I do not care for usualy, are dreamlike. The wines recommended by the waiter really rounded the flavors. It was a masterpiece. Following the five-way menu, my body felt floating, airy and completely satisfied. We dined for three huors and had a great time.

Saturday dinner was plentiful, with fish, great appetizer with a mixture of fish, fish soup and 1 kilo sea bass. Friendly and helpful staff. We stayed one night. Cozy room, clean and comfortable, it looks like recently renovated. The only downside: the television didn't have a good italian signal (it rained all day) and the shower was just warm both night and morning, in the morning we notified the owner who apologized. The breakfast was delicious, with eggs and bacon cooked to perfection. Outside there are also some animals, like a small farm, a pig, a horse, a donkey, a rooster, sheep, etc.
