We stopped by here while visiting the Coniston area. The cafe had a large and interesting menu, good pricing and more than enough choices for everyone. They even offer to make to order anything that isn't on their menu. The cafe was cosy, warm and welcoming. The staff were only to happy to help and offer advice on where to visit while in Coniston...there is more to Coniston than the exploits of Donald Campbell and his sad demise in Bluebird.

Fresher's Cafe is the first & friendliest cafe in Ambleside. We serve excellent coffee, teas, cold drinks, light bites & homemade cakes. Feel free to eat-in or take-away - If you choose to stay we have both indoor & outdoor seating. If the weather is nice
We stopped off at this quaint little cafe yesterday and we weren't disappointed. We were greeted with a very friendly welcome; the owner took time to point out the selection of hot and cold drinks and explain the cakes on offer. Even thought it was nearing closing time, at no time were we rushed. We enjoyed the CCC (coconut, cherry and chocolate) cake which was magnificently moreish; light and sweet without being sickly and a piece of Granny's Borrowdale Teabread which was heavenly. The owner mentioned she had been baking it for over 50 years, we'd say she's most definitely nailed it!!Will most definitely return when were back in the lakes!

Called in and got a couple of take out sandwiches. One was the vegan option of hummus, pesto, peppers and sundried tomatoes, this was lovely and really tasty. The other sandwich was pastrami, gouda, gherkins and Dijon which again was really tasty. Would certainly recommend.
