Stopped in today for hubby's birthday lunch. As always greeted warmly when we arrived & seated quickly as we were there during a quieter time of day. Restaurant is popular & is usually busy. Stacey was our server & she was friendly & attentive. We enjoyed the happy hr special 2 for 1 drinks. My husband had the jalapeno encrusted grouper which was delicious & I had the conch cracker shrimp app with a side salad. I like that they let you make an app into a meal for only $4.95 more. The house salad came with jicama sticks on top which was a nice touch of added crunch. We always enjoy the food, service & atmosphere...just wish we lived closer... but it's worth the 1.5 hr drive from where we live!

Since 1948, Leverock's has been providing great seafood and great service in a casual setting at reasonable prices. A favorite with locals and visitors alike.
On general principals I will go at least once to any restaurant won in a card game. Leverock's has one of the better Florida restaurant back stories that you will find this side of Key West.We arrived early so I tried a $2.99 happy hour martini which was pretty good. Denise, our waitress, brought out some really good bread fresh out of the oven. I had the Fresh Fish Trio for $12.99. Part of the trio was a lettuce wedge salad with bacon bits and blue cheese dressing which was a great starter. My entree -- a decent-size piece of blackened salmon and a tiny cup of lobster bisque arrived. We decided that calling it a cup of soup would have been an exaggeration. We settled on ramekin of soup. That said, it was amazingly thick and good. Best four spoonfuls of lobster bisque I've had in a long time. The salmon also was good. Not overdone but cooked through. My wife had the crab cakes which were underwhelming. She let me have a few bites. I think it certainly is possible that those cakes had been in the same room as crab meat. Whether any crab meat got into the cakes I'm not so sure. Our friend had the mahi mahi which she said was good but not amazing.Denise, our server, was delightful. She answered all of our questions cheerfully. She delivered our food at a speed that would do any Greek diner proud. The atmosphere was very nice. Not noisy at all but then we were eating at 5:30PM. There is plenty of parking in the back.Overall a very good experience. If we were in the area and looking for a place to get good service and decent seafood at a very reasonable price, then we would pick Leverock's every time. I'll be back to this 70+ year old St. Petersburg tradition.Thank you for the very informative review. It sounds like the overall experience was pretty good, but could have been better for you. The Fresh Fish Trio on the early menu is a combination meal that is smaller portions, and you are right about the ramekin of soup. We do offer upgrading to an 8 oz cup or 12 oz bowl for anyone that likes a larger portion of soup. The crab cakes that you mentioned are the Leverock's style crab cakes on the early menu. They do have crab in them, but also have surimi and breading and are deep fried. For those who like solid lump meat crab cakes, we do have Maryland style crab cakes on our dinner menu, and they are available all day. Hopefully, that will offer you some alternatives. We're so glad you tried our restaurant. We thank you for your thoughtful feedback, and we look forward to seeing you again.
