Blue Eye

Blue Eye is a quality seafood restaurant on Hobart's waterfront, cooking fresh and tasty local fish and seafood. It has a modern menu specialising in grilled fish dishes, seafood platters, and fish and chips.Try some local Bruny Island oysters or Spring B

The Blue Eye came highly recommended to us, so we made it our first dinner stop in Hobart. It could have been much better. Our server did not have any knowledge of the wine list and limited knowledge of the menu. From the time we ordered, it took 45 minutes to get our meal--very disappointing.I had the blue eye, which was slightly overcooked, while the roasted potatoes that came with it were undercooked. My wife had paella--plenty of good seafood, but the rice was overcooked and mushy. The food was so mediocre that we passed on dessert.

Mures Upper Deck

Jill & George Mure opened Tasmania's first licensed seafood restaurant, Mures Fish House, in 1973 in Hobart. When they struggled to source quality, fresh, local seafood, George went fishing. More than 40 years on, now owned by Will & Jude Mure, Mures rema

The lower deck was crowded, so we decided to do the upper deck which was full service vs cafeteria style. All of the dishes we ordered at our table were delicious. The blue eyed truvella appears to be the local’s favorite. Having sampled the other fish entrees, I would have to agree. Nevertheless, everything we ate was fresh, and the service was prompt and friendly.Dear floridatraveler33, Thank you for taking the time to provide us with feedback from your recent visit to Upper Deck, we are pleased to hear that you enjoyed both our dishes and our service. The Blue Eye Trevalla is line-caught on our own fishing vessel, Diana, and is definitely a local hero among fish species. We are glad that you found this to be the case as well. It's a wonderfully versatile fish that is suited for nearly all styles of cooking!Kind regards,Mures Upper Deck

The Soup Stop

A vibrant eating place located very close to Hobart City Centre. We offer warm, nourishing soups, a range of traditional and contemporary Indian food, and some of the best hot and cold drinks in town. The soup menu is truly impressive. All are hearty soup

Stumbled on this gem when surfing the net for vegetarian dining in Hobart. They serve VEGETARIAN food only.Very pleasantly greeted by owner Mr.Satindar & his staff. The soups are so wholesome & hearty. They are not kidding about the name SOUP STOP! But it is more than that. My husband randomly ordered Idli/ Sambhar & Makai ki roti/Sarson Ka saag. Not prepared by a bevy of chefs but by his cheerful wife,Mrs.Harcharan.Health conscious home cooked food unlike the commercial Indian food marketed in most restaurants.Delicious & not heavy at all. Truly unique.Left with a spring in our step. Our best wishes for them to Succeed!
