This place is in Sant'Ambrogio, just uphill from the church of San Giovanni Vincenzo, near the beginning of the gravel-and-cobblestone hiking path called the Mulattiera that winds steeply up to the Sacra di San Michele. But as far as we could tell there were no signs for the restaurant, which is housed in the repurposed ruins of an ancient building (an abbey? a castle? we couldn't tell either).The interior decor is a very tasteful minimalist chic. The food was modern upscale italian and was excellent. And the prices were very reasonable given the quality of the food -- although we were there for lunch, so the dinner menu is probably more expensive. Service was friendly, unobtrusive, and unhurried -- in short, also excellent.We were there during winter, but during warmer weather the restaurant opens an outdoor bar and tables on several terraces and balconies with great views of Sant'Ambrogio and the Susa Valley.This place is truly a hidden gem in all senses of the word. And if you can find it, then you are truly a gourmand and a cognoscenti -- perhaps even a member of the Illuminati !

We had a quick lunch after the tour of the Avigliana lakes. The restaurant is a bit dated, but nice and clean, it looks like a local's favourite for elder people. Not too hungry, we decided for some cold plates: cold cuts and assorted cheese with honey. Food was reasonably good (cheese better than cold cuts indeed) and the owner kind and helpful. The list of desserts is short but what is proposed is interesting (tasty pistachio ice cream truffle and meringue cake with hot chocolate cream). Overall good for a quick meal.

Ate here two nights in succession. Booked the table via Trip Advisor and got a 20% discount! Not a massive choice, but good enough. Well presented and tasty. Excellent steak. Super service - waitress very helpful and recommended an excellent grappa. Would definitely return. You can also buy any of the wines and some of the grappa to take home.
