Just off Main Street in Melrose close to Malden. Nice ambiance with the chefs right there. They have tables, and a bar seating set up. Good service extensive menu with a lot of choices - all delicious. Nice touch is the tempura flakes in many of the maki's. A bit on the expensive side but who wants cheap sushi hang over. Free parking outside of the restaurant.

I used to like coming to Black and Blue but no more. When our party of 10 arrived, we were seated in a nice spot and a waitress came over and said she'd be our server. Then 2 minutes later, a better dressed and "experienced" waitress came over and said she'd be our server. It was obvious we were there not as "regular people" but on business expense so they swapped her out.She then began to recommend $200-$300 bottles of wine which really shocked me. I don't care whether I'm on company expense or not, I spend responsibly.First the soup came. It was about 3 ounces of soup served on a dinner-plate sized bowl. Looked pretty ridiculous if you asked me. It could certainly have been more generous. The taste was fine. I ordered the flounder, and it was the blandest piece of fish ever. Flounder is a delicate fish and should never be breaded and pan fried. What I got was dry and tasteless, completely destroying it. Might as well have gotten fish and chips. The $13 side dish of carrots was ridiculously overpriced. I mean, carrots? Everything was overpriced. Don't waste your money here.Anyhow, for a restaurant purporting to be good at steak and seafood, I'm not coming back again to spend good money on pretentious service and food.Thank you for sharing your review, we would like to apologize for the poor experience you've described, we would love to learn a little more about it. We had a very nice meal at this small, family run and oriented place. Very welcoming. We started with the fried cod cakes - crispy and plentiful. I enjoyed the grilled octopus while my wife found the mixed seafood and rice dish a little to salty for her taste. The servings are plentiful. Wine by the glass and bottle very reasonably priced. We finished with the little Portuguese tart and some Port. We will be back.
