I had the suggestion of the day for lunch, which was a typical dish (vispannetje), albeit with french fries for I guess the tourists. Before there were some olives as well as pumkin soup and bread. The soup was ok, but lacked flavour. The same can be said for the main course, in which the little shrimp were not freshly peeled, and the whole was rather watery. The service was attentive and friendly, and the setting is nice. Plus point is that it was open, even in November. A negative point for small eaters is that you cannot order just a starter.You really think 19 euroâs is too much for what you got?For the price you payed; 19â¬; you got a pumpkin-carrot soup with fresh baked bread and butter, a portion of olives with garlic, a fishermanâs plate with steamed saumon, steamed cod, mussels and FRESHLY PEELED shrimps, a fish "waterzooi" sauce and gratinated with parmesan cheese, french fries âà volontéâ and mayonaise!!! But you still think 19 euroâs is much too expensive for this??? This is so FUNNY!!!! You really make us laugh :-) :-) !!! I do not know what you are used to pay for soup, bread, olives and a fisherman's plate!!!The âwaterzooiâ-sauce, you call it âwateryâ⦠???????And all our starters can be ordered for main course â¦!!!!! Do not lie!!!So please be correct en fair when you put something on Tripadvisor! Certainly when you only pay 19 euroâs for staying in a restaurant!

"De Roos" has existed for nearly a hundred years now. During the first World War it was a cafe where the customers could enjoy some shrimps or kippers at the bar.Since June 13th 2008 we have been running "De Roos", a cosy family restaurant where quality a
This is a great place to eat in Nieuwpoort city. Plenty of food, lots of choice and a very efficient service. In my opinion it appears to be one of the better places, so a reservation makes sense. I would advice the team that if a bottle is ordered, it is also opened at the table.

We decided to go to this restaurant following the very good rating on Tripadvisor. We had reserved but it was not necessary because there were a lot of tables empty. We ordered the menu for 40 EURO consisting of a starter, main dish and a dessert. The starter was very good and the main course ok. For the dessert we could chose between to things. I asked if I could change it to something else because I did not like both. I received a very short no answer. That was the negative line in our visit of this restaurant. Service was not friendly. We will not go back as for that price you will find better.Hello,It's true we don't allow the people to change the menu annymore. We did it in the past and after a while the people start to make their own menu.I don't understand why you're having troubles with it. All dishes from the menu can be ordered à la carte. So you could have ordered the dishes whith another desert. Why order the menu if there is something in it you don't like....I guess what you say about our friendlyness has a lot to do with the fact you didn't get what you wanted.Regards,Dajo

we had the 5-course set menu and started with two perfect serve gins accompanied by an appetizer with crab and a 'maatje'. Starters were a perfectly seasoned gazpacho with scamorza and bouchot mussels Morrocon style. Mains were correct cooked red bream with belgian caviar and matured rubia gallega with smoked béarnaise. They also present a nice cheese chariot besides the dessert with peach. Coffee comes with all kinds of après desserts. Original winelist at very reasonable prices (try the Garagista from Urugay e.g.).

We had a gastronomic diner, including wine, voucher for two. Based on the good reviews we decided to try this restaurant at the Belgian coast. What a discovery and what a treat. From the many small one-bite appetizers presented by pairs over the starter through the main dish and the fine dessert we enjoyed one culinary surprise after the next. With every dish we received a clear appealing description of what to expect. Additionally we were presented excellent wines in perfect harmony with each dish and the very friendly sommelier talked us through each wine (which was almost a trip around the world on its own). Wonderfull experience in a nice setting. Worth mentioning are also the freshly baked selection of loafs (about 8 different tastes to choose from) as well as the wide selection of home-made one-bite sweets that came as a surprize to the coffees we ordered to close off a wonderfull lunch.This restaurant deserves a Michelin star ! We will certainly be back !

Saturday evening 9 o'clock, almost every restaurant already closed and 3 hungry girls searching for food. The only one who let us in was the greek owner of this beautiful little restaurant. And what a luck! We had the most amazing sea food platter and met the most lovely crew on that weekend. Excellent house wine as well! They gave us an excellent advice for a bar to have a drink afterwards :) We will be back! Thank you guys

Visited during quiet lunch time. Service was welcoming and prompt. We've ordered main courses and were treated to a lovely crab/shrimp paste with bread. Great choice of beer and amazing food. We went for a children's crispy chicken, catch of the day -cod with veg and steak with great peppercorn sauce. All tasty and delicious. Highly recommended.

I have a soft spot for The Lanteirne as we arranged my mum's funerary lunch there. My parents always loved the restaurant and the kind owners. My husband took me back after many years and I was delighted to see that the quality has, if anything, gotten even better. We started with their house cocktail on the deck in the sun where they brought us a divine amuse bouche. We usually go for the set menu, never fails. Great atmosphere, fabulous food, efficient and kind service. Absolutely recommend it.

After a long day made longer by a 2.5 hour delay on the channel tunnel we decided enough was enough while filling up with fuel on the E40 half way to Brussels.....we needed to eat. A very quick look on TripAdvisor led us 5km towards the coast to Brasserie Regina and we are so glad we bothered. Atmosphere, service and food was excellent on a cold and wet evening. The owner was very friendly and helpful and only wish was that we could have stayed much longer. We shall make a point of returning.

the restaurant is convenient located a few steps from the coast-tram from Ostend;but parking is also available nearby;we appreciate the very friendly reception and the attentive service of Heidi and Christine;they always take into account special requirements,but even the low-salt fish dishes were very tasteful, thanks to an excellent seasoning mix,this reveals a high professional skill of the chief cook Patrick, giving always such artful presentations, with creativity and excellent variations;the appropriate wines and champagne, were chosen by the sommelier Gino from the Vinotheek, giving a finishing touch to a fantastic meal in a relax atmosphere;
